New numbers for Norfleet and Drake Johnson

Submitted by Decatur Jack on

Not sure if this has already been discussed, but I was perusing the roster page on mgoblue.com and noticed that some players have new numbers.

Drake Johnson #20 (previously #29)
Dennis Norfleet #23 (previously #26)

Much more iconic. Anyone think this means they'll definitely get more carries?

Also, side note: Jonathan Keizer is #89 (previously #27) and we all know what that means!!!!

GO BLUE! Anyone getting a #27 jersey in anticipation?

A RB wearing #20 that came in with no fanfare. I like it.

EDIT: Also a number change, walkon RB Bobby Henderson changed from #51 to #37.

I can't remember what he went by, but there was one guy on the interwebs at the time who was just raving about Hart (though this might have been in the Google/usenet days).  He was a Syracuse fan, but had actually seen him, and would tell any Michigan fan he could find that Hart was going to surprise everyone.

Not that it discounts your point in the least. I just like to give that anonymous guy credit for being right when the opportunity presents itself.

I like Norfleet as a 23.  Johnson kinda feels like a 29 to me, though.  I say this fully expecting someone to inform me that he was 20 in high school or something.

He already pretty much fills out this jersey without pads. He will be a (human) monster in full pads and I would love to rekindle some (for me) vague memories of Biakabutuka...

Anyone notice that Drew Dileo is faster than Norfleet in the NCAA Demo? Dileo is a better returner as well. I have a feeling he is vastly underrated (at least in the speed dept) in this game.

Also, still a cornerback.

I wanted Dileo to be given the opportunity  to be our #1 punt/kick returner since he arrived from Louisiana.

Nothing against Dennis Norfleet, who has done very well thank you very much.  I just think that Dileo was our headiest punt return man and I could never understand what our coaches were seeing/thinking that was so different.  Obviously they are there in practice every day, to see what's what and who performs.  And I am not there.  But unless it was to protect Dileo as an essential element in our placekicking game (as holder), I just didn't get it.  I think we've had some problematic returners since Steve Breaston left Ann Arbor.
