New Michigan crystal ball from Bill Greene
Looks like they just gave him an 85 rating. He was a zero star as of 5 minutes ago.
Was this a camp offer?
Sam just put out an article on 247 discussing how U-M is stepping up recruiting efforts in Ohio. He interviewed Greene as part of this story and Greene made it a point that camp offers are very significant in his mind because a) it is the most recent data available on a kid as opposed to tape from a game 8-9 months ago and b) the staff can run him through any drill they want and talk to him as long as they want to get a real assessment of his ability.
No idea if this kid is any good but he must have showed something at camp that the staff liked.
Stepping up recruiting in Ohio by offering zero star recruits? Remember when Rich Rod took 11 Ohio kids in 2010 all rated like this? How'd that work out.

I'm all concerned now. Some guy on a board named Bluey is worried about the numbers of stars being recruited by an NFL coach. SMH
Like Harbaugh needs to wait for someone to tell him a guy is worth recruiting.
Agreed. JJH is one of the premier talent evaluators in all of football.
I trust him over amateur media giving players stars.
To compare Rich Rod to JJH is ridiculous. Anybody doing that should be ashamed.
Even Bill Greene said this offer was surprising. Basically a nice way of saying wtf were they thinking.
Was Bill Greene at the camp trailing this kid and watching his every drill?
Nope, Bluey left that part out
So he's Freddy Canteen. A kid who camped an earned an offer that the recruiting experts didn't get. Cool.
BTW, Bill saw St Edwards play last year. So he's seen him live before. Fail.
I think they offered him just to troll you.
You do know there is no such thing as a zero star recruit right?
Oh man, don't tell OSU about that list either then.

I believe those no star nobodies Rich Rod recruited beat Ohio St and went 11-2 with a Sugar Bowl win. Jake Ryan and Patrick Omameh are still enjoying productive NFL careers.
Yes it was. He won MVP of WRs at a Michigan camp.

MVP over who? My electrician's nephew?
No your mommas pimp
Don't know why you're getting the downvotes. I think you're funny.
Either I laugh at how dumb the momma joke is, or I laugh at how funny the momma joke is. Either way, I aways laugh at momma jokes!
The nephew did not attend. He was busy with your mom.
No. Over your beautician's mom.
No. Over your beautician's mom.
He was the MVP of their camp. Of course you offer him. Being a MVP at Michigan camp is always is a good thing, cause only good players win them.
You act like Harbaugh is turning 4 and 5* guys down and doesn’t want them.
I didn't even know there was a 2-star mafia.
Rivals has him a 2-star 5.4 rivals ranking score. FYI
I don't know what's funnier, the fact that Bill Greene slapped a generic 3 star rating on this kid in the span of a few minutes, or that Michigan recruiting has sunken to Rich Rod level depths. Well the last part isn't funny, it's just depressing.
Why are you here? Why do you follow the team? Why do you think your bitching will change anything? Why do you think anyone cares about your beliefs regarding Michigan football recruiting?
I'm not sure "believing" in math and statistics is a thing... it's not a faith based system.
Your other questions are fine although I think you already know the answers.
I am referring to his hysterical fretting about UM recruiting, not the ratings(which are created based on someone’s interpretation of a player’s ability).
His fretting is based on the rankings.
His fretting is based on his being an ass.
His fretting is based on the rankings which are based on the opinion of someone about how good a kid is.
Which is flawed. Incredibly, incredibly flawed, as has been pointed out to him many times. Yet he chooses to continue to troll
And yet, still the most accurate tool for projecting who will be good and who won't be.
In that case your mom was a 0*
I disagree, I thought she was pretty good!
/I'll leave quietly
You use stats and messaging like a perverse politician.
Of course stars matter although there is serious evidence that the data set has been devalued by sloppy or lazy effort.
You should not discount this staffs ability and the importance of player evaluation. Harbaugh has shown a very good ability to find talent and coach guys to the NFL.
The talent and talent rankings on the roster recruited by Harbaugh is among the top teams in the country.
But this was a waste of time because you don’t reason. You are just a troll
Actually, no it isn't. I wonder, do you have a degree in mathematics or statistics? I do, so let me explain the value of starzzz to you:
Starzzzz are not the most accurate tool available for evaluating an individual recruit; not even close. Talent evaluation by people who know what they are looking at (division I coaches, for example) is the most accurate tool. It's not a perfect tool -- no tool is perfect, but it is far and away more detailed and deep than some recruiting industry once-highschool-assistant-coach-or-something analyst who fires off quick and lazy evaluations of as many kids as he possibly can.
Star rankings are simply the best tool that is available to general audiences (i.e. morons on blogs like you), but that doesn't mean they are a good predictor. If you had any degree of statistical literacy, you would understand that a star ranking has no predictive value for any individual kid. It does have predictive value when taking a sufficiently sized random sample of division I recruits at a certain star ranking, then you can expect a certain range to be NFL draft picks.
Even looking at the class in the aggregate is /not a sufficiently random sample to apply star rankings and gain accurate predictions/. The University of Michigan class contains only recruits who were offered by the University of Michigan coaching staff. It contains only recruits that were heavily interviewed and scouted by the University of Michigan coaching staff, and then offered. These kids won't be coached by random division I coaches, they won't be in random division I nutrition and S&C programs. These are confounding variables that make the sample completely non-random.
You can't use starzzz to predict the success of a kid, because statistics doesn't work that way. A single kid isn't a meaningful sample. You can try to use them to predict the success of a class, but a class isn't a random sample.
P.S. Get off the blog already. You are 1) a complete bitch, 2) obnoxious, 3) you have a complete mismatch between your level of confident and your actual intelligence, 4) you're honestly garbage, and 5) I'd be shocked if your own mom even likes you. Get off the blog already, goddamn.
Snap! Well done
Degree in statistics eh?....... does that make you a sadist or a masochist? I can never remember. Either way I think you might have an honorary doctorate in pimpology for the bitch slap you just delivered onto the starzz whore.
It's not flawed though. The higher your avg star ranking as a team, the more success you have. It's been pointed out by Brian numerous times.
They miss on some kids sure, but not that often. It's math. We aren't recruiting well. It's not an opinion, it's a fact.
I agree with you. I think everyone does.
Was Brian bitching when he wrote this a few months ago?
In all likelihood Michigan's entire skill position class is going to consist of fliers, late bloomers, sleepers, guys who recently emerged from a coma, and the like. These are the wages of having the worst passing offense imaginable and not having a WR coach who can go on the road to recruit until you hire… uh… Jim McElwain.
This is exactly what I'm saying.
This fan base has its head up its ass so far. Unreal. Wait three years when we can't get a WR open to save our lives. Then it'll be "fire Harbaugh." So stupid.
You assume that UM won’t land higher rated players in the future.
Summer commits generally are lower rated camp guys.
Biting your fingernails over what may or may not happen three years down the line is kind of silly.
Brian has hated everything about the football program for the past nine months. He also hated everything about the basketball program for a period of time.
And to answer your question: yes, he was bitching.
"Well the last part isn't funny, it's just depressing."
Yeah, I'm convinced that you are depressed. /s Resorting to scouring CBs and potential offers to find "negative" news...that part is funny.
You are a zero star poster.
If the point system was working, he would be well into negative territory by now.
