USF strips on ND 1 and takes it to the house -14

Missed Field Goal- 3

USF offsides which converts a 4th down fg to a 1st only to see a pick - 3

Pick in the endzone- let's just say they would have got a fg -3

Missed 2pt conv- (I'm only adding this because there is plenty of more to tack on) -2

23-20 turns into  13-41..... I'm just as worried about ND as I was preseason.

I understand what you're saying, but this logic isn't really the best.  The turnovers and mental mistakes may be just as big a part of their team and offense as the yardage eating plays.  Kind of like our offense last year.  Our offense could have been unstoppable, but it ended up being turnovers and mental mistakes that killed ourselves.

Also, that USF defense, especially in the second half, looked exactly like what our defense did last year: minimal pressure, while dropping back into a soft zone that gave up a lot of yardage in front of them.  The one time I remember seeing USF actually bring a blitz, Rees made a quick throw deep that the WR didn't read and it went out the back of the endzone.

Now, ND has a lot of talent, but I saw nothing in the film that said we can't beat them.  The caveat, is I would like to see their D film.

The USF strip was a 3rd down play. Its odd that you assume ND would have gone for it on Fourth and made it.

Missed 2pt conv. I could see if you were to give them +1, but to just give them two points because they attempted a 2 point conversion? That's weird.

As far as the picks. I think those are legit. Did you see how many perfect passes they through, which could have been picks if not perfectly placed? If they plan to thread the needle like that every game, they will throw many more picks on the future.

Errr. Couple points on your math there.

If USF doesn't strip the ball, its 4th down.  Also, USF moved the ball pretty well in the first half, so you can't really assume they wouldn't have scored on that drive.  So your -14 becomes -3, most likely.

I don't understand how  you are giving points for a missed 2 point conversion.  If you watched the highlights, you'd see ND sucked in do-or-die scenarios.

The missed FG you gave them points for was a 45 yarder, off center.  Hardly a gimme.

You can say that ND gave the game away but USF forced most of those turnovers themselves.  It's not like Crist just dropped the ball while running.  They made mistakes against a good defense, and paid for it.

ND's last td was in garbage time while USF was in prevent. Honestly ND got straight blown out that game..USF's defense was laying the wood all day and causing havoc. Rese was terribly innacurate and could have throw 3 more picks easily. Not to mention USF on offense in the second half was playing it safe to protect the lead..people have been saying ND stormed back but after watching it...they got their asses kicked all game. I wish our D hit the way USF does.. It was fun watching them

Though, I also think a lot of Wood's long runs were because of missed tackles.  Though, considering how often we miss tackles, that is not necessarily making me feel better.

He looked quick and accurate most of the time.  However, it was mostly timing to his first read.  He got in the zone on that.  I did not see very many multiple reads.

He throws poorly on the run.  His passes from the pocket can also be batted down.

We will definitely need to bring some pressure and confusion, and press the recievers (easier said than done).  If he can sit back and get comfortable quickly hitting his first read, it's going to be a long night.

Their strength on O matches up to our weakness on D.  We can't get away from that.  However, it turns out that WMU was perfect preparation for us.  Better than most BCS teams would have been.

after hearing so much about this game and the 2 QB's i watch this video expecting Crist to look lost. i thought he looked just as good as Rees except for the red zone pick.

Seemed to me they made a lot of mistakes rather than getting dominated by USF.   Also one starting WR (#7, forgot his name, TJ something) went out late with an injury,  might be an issue for ND come Saturday.

They threw to Floyd about a million times, sometimes forcing something that wasn't there.
