NCAA Wrestling Championships Update

Well, not as good as I'd hoped so far, but the team is still in the top 10. At 125, Michael Watts went 0-2. At 141, #1 seed Kellen Russell got pinned by a kid with a losing record. Fortunately, he's wrestled well in consolations and is one match from being all-american. He can still get 3rd. At 157, Aaron Hynes went 1-2. He lost 6-3 to the #8 seed. That kid is now one match from being an AA. Good year for Hynes. At 165, Justin Zeerip went 0-2. Disappointing year for him. At 174, #1 seed Steve Luke is in the semi-final against #5 Raymond Jordan. At 184, Anthony Biondo went 0-2. Finally, at 197, #4 seed Tyrel Todd is facing #1 Craig Brester in the semi. Also, for an update on kids from Michigan, Brent Metcalf (Iowa, 149), Jon Reader (Iowa State, 165), and Paul Donahoe (Edinboro, 125), all from Davison, Mich., are in the semifinals. Trevor Perry of Davison (Indiana, 174) is one match from placing. Cameron Simaz of Allegan (Cornell, 197) is one match from placing. Central Michigan also has 4 kids alive, 3 in consolations. Mike Miller (174) upset #2 Mike Cannon (American) in the QF round by a 6-5 score. Scotti Sentes (125), Steve Brown (149), and Trevor Stewart (Detroit Catholic Central, 165) are all one match from placing. For Michigan State, #1 Franklin Gomez (133) is in the semi-final. The state of Michigan is well represented for tonight.

Thanks for the post. I've been following the results very closely. Do have any information on how Russell was pinned by Prater? My first thought was that it was a defensive fall. Boy, seeing the list of kids from the state of Michigan sure makes me wish we could keep those kids home.
