NCAA Tournament Reaction Thread

I live very close to the Manhattan campus. I could not even imagine how crazy this small commuter college would be after that upset. Van Cortlandt Park would be full of drunk tri-staters.
Put $50 bucks on this in Vegas. If it happens youll be a millionaire .

However, if you have $5 to throw away...put it on Coastal Carolina. If $50 gets you a million in the UK game, $5 probably gets you $75,000 in the Wisconsin game.
Quick reactions:
1) Bummed I have no excuse to pick against Kentucky before at least the Final Four
2) Wisconsin apparently should have strategically thrown their game against us. Being the 1 out West is much harder than the 2 in the East.
3) Indiana is not as good at basketball as we are right now and they got in. Very odd.
UCLA should have to go to Dayton and play a play in game. They had the road resume that we did, and they games at home, except for Arizona. They have Michigan resume without the NJIT and Eastern Michigan.
UCLA and Indiana in the second round and not the First Four is a joke.
UCLA shouldn't be in at all.

Kansas lost to UK by 40 and are a pretty decent team.

Big 12 seems like it has a lot of Sweet Sixteen teams but not really any elite teams. Maaaaaaybe the Cyclones though they play badly for large stretches pretty often.
Sparty got a dreaded seven seed, meaning they have to play the two (Virginia) if they get by their first game. Virginia did manage to go 32-3 this year; it's not like they don't deserve a two seed. They were 16-2 in the ACC this year to win the regular season championship.
I don't see them making it to the second week, especially in the NCAA's, where refs tend to call a lot of fouls on teams that try to play hardwood football. Izzo did a good job with a team that doesn't have a lot of talent. But he isn't getting them very far into this tournament.
Oklahoma seemed like a weak #3, but I guess not crazily so. Providence could be a very scary #6; Henton is a very good scorer and Dunn is one of those PGs that can take over during the tournament. He's maybe not on Napier's level, but if I'm looking at a sleeper Elite 8 team Providence is up there.
Buckeyes coming to Portland for round #1 game;
do not open any coolers you might see around town.

Two top 5 road wins (UVA and Wisky)
Because man. DOOOK!
Hahahahahaha
They are going to be shell shocked having to leave carolina for the sweet 16 if they make it... all the way to texas!
and CBS doesn't even discuss it as a possible over-seed. Duke with worst RPI of the 4 seeds, 7th in KenPom--and they didn't win either their conference or tourney. But what am I thinking.....its Duke.
ACC 5 top 4 seeds. Pretty sure the B10 beat them in the B10-ACC games. B12 4 teams in top 3 seeds. Baylor is questionable and Oklahoma with 10 losses is a joke.
Based on these seeds, MSU got screwed at 7--most mocks had them at 5 or 6.

Taylor Swift
My top seeds: Rye, Caraway, of doubt, Poppy.
I mean, at worst they are a top #2 seed. It isn't crazy.
Ohio State, with a 39 in RPI, 73 SOS, 228 non-conference SOS, 1-7 vs top 50 RPI teams, easily made it. The committee is a joke.
When are the NIT brackets released?
Stopped caring once it was clear Michigan was not going to be in the NCAAs.
Will watch the NIT.
- Dayton should not be in the play-in game, neither should Boise. Both should have been in the field and got screwed, especially Boise since this becomes a home game for Davidson.
- What was the committe doing putting Maryland, Indiana and Purdue all in the same region? Also they're all in Kentcuky's bracket, so good lukc getting out of that.
- Along those lines, all 5 Indiana teams are in the same region? Why?
- I don't believe Maryland is the worst 4 seed on the S line but a 10 loss Oklahoma team is a 3 seed.
- I'm shocked Texas and UCLA got in. UCLA beat absolutely nobody and Texas went 2-10 against ranked teams this year with 13 losses overall and 8-10 in conference. I get the Big 12 was the best conference, but 2-10 against ranked teams should not get you in the tourney.
- VCU against OSU in the first round should be a fun matchup
The committee really gave the pac12 and big12 huge credit for SOS.
I get the Big 12 but the Pac 12? Outside of Arizona, Utah, and Oregon the rest of the conference was mediocre to awful. They were probably the worst P5 conference honestly.
- CBS's analysts are idiots
- The South and West are MUCH harder than the Midwest and East - West is brutal
- Kentucky will skate to Indianapolis
- UCLA in is a joke. They shouldn't even be close. Colorado St. over them without a question. IU should've been the very last team in or first team out, IMO.
- Kentucky / Arizona / Northern Iowa / Duke
- I'm confident in Kentucky and Duke...Arizona/UNC/Wisconsin is going to be awesome. The east is a joke.
- SF Austin to the the Sweet 16
- UNC/Harvard will be the best first round game
- I picked the same final four as Seth Davis...yuck.
- This isn't as fun without Michigan :-(
Sweet 16/Elite 8
Midwest
Kentucky over Maryland
Wichita St. over ND
Kentucky over Wichita St.
East
UNI over 'Nova
UVA over Oklahoma
UNI over UVA
South

West
Wisconsin over UNC
Arizona over Baylor
Arizona over Wisconsin

How did UCLA get in?
UCLA should not be in there! What the heck?! Teams like Colorado State, Temple and Murray State should be in over some of those average power conference teams.
Temple got screwed.
31 RPI, quality win over Kansas (by 25) and only 2 bad losses.
Power 5 bias is a joke.
Purdue matches up about as well with Kentucky as any team can. Two skilled 7-footers to go against Kentucky's size up front, as well as some quick guards to stay in front of the Harrisons. Obviously, I wouldn't bet against Kentucky but I don't think they'll walk over the Boilermakers, either.
March 16th, 2015 at 11:47 AM ^
UK has bigs that can not only run the floor but can take you on the bounce. Purdue's bigs are more traditional post guys. UK's athleticism and height across the board doesnt bode well at all for Purdue.
I love Purdue. I do not like UK. I will pick Purdue to beat UK because I am a homer. What would a $5 bet on odds get me with a Purdue win? Maybe $100?
You are giving Purdue way too much credit.
They have no chance if they even make it to the game against Kentucky.
I can't get into it, knowing that Michigan isn't in the field. By Thursday I'll care a little more, but right now, bleh. (Which sucks because this is normally a really fun time of year.)
Dawgs!
