NCAA Reaches new low: Kicks ex-marine off MTSU Football team

Submitted by Fhshockey112002 on

Since Steven Rhodes participated in "Organized football games" while being deployed with other marines (aging from 18-40) the NCAA has ruled him inelgibile.  MTSU is appealing this ruling, and if there is any good left in the NCAA they better let this guy play.

I'm sure this waiver will be granted post-haste. Just for a bit of perspective, Marine base football teams would beat just about any high school team. This isn't because they're better, just because they're a bunch of grown men and lift a lot. That said, the quality of play is pretty bad. It's basically college IM with full pads. You wouldn't gain any advantage from playing there over an organized D-III college program.

Love the NCAA hate, given that the NCAA is 1/x Michigan, where x is the number of member institutions.

Michigan is as responsible for this as any member institution.  Ya spit on the NCAA, ya spit on Michigan.

I currently play in one of these Marine leagues.  The only reason why these leagues are put together is to keep the Marines from drinking thereselves to death.  As far as organized, I can think of some other words to describe them and most of them start with a 4 letter word, then the word show added at the end.

I wonder what this "organized football" was. I was in the army for eight years and the only organized football we had was flag football. If they are seriously declaring a guy ineligible for playing flag football, someone in the NCAA power structure needs fired.
