Nantz/Hill/Raftery crew in Indy

Submitted by ijohnb on

Per CBS website.  Called the BTT and now follow Michigan to Indy.  I like the continuity here.  Not typically a huge Nantz guy but sometimes in the NCAA tourney CBS will send out like interns to call your region if they run out of actual announcers.  This is a pretty good draw.

No link because..... there is really nothing else to read.

Apologies if 1) this has already been posted, or, 2) "dude, they are just announcers!?!  Nobody cares!  Get a life and stop looking at the CBS website to see who is calling the game, loser!"

I won't complain about this thread. We're housebound because of the snowstorm in the Northeast so I am fiending for MGoBlog content. Keep bringing it!

nope, doesn't look like that.  Just really cold, and really dark.

As an aside, I cannot overstate how absolutely terrible DTE has been at every stage of this process.  Their App has been consistently incorrect, their customer service has been rude, uninformed, and disinterested.  Their outreach has been non-existent.  They have "restored" my power on two occassions when it was not restored, so now they are telling me that I have non-storm damage because the ticket was opened up on Friday.

I have no idea why my power is out and when it will be restored.   They cannot or will not allow to speak to dispatch and I have not seen 1 DTE truck on my street.  I have a 1 year old baby and a 9 year old who are living 40 miles from their school and have limited understanding of where their house went.    For all of this, they are offering a $25 credit that I have to "apply" for even though they know how long it has been out and even though I still don't know anything about restoration time.

would be willing to accept any advocacy I can get.  Even if would be just to speak with somebody who did have information. It is becomming a kind of serious situation right now.  I haven't even really been told that there are any DTE service techs that are even aware of the problem we are having and what we should expect.  I was transfered to a supervisor who I could not even get to commit to the statement that "my power will be restored at some point, correct?"  She said she "did not have that information."  The way DTE has responded to this has made our entire family feel completely disregarded and has actually made the situation that much worse.  I cannot envision a more comprehensive failure of a response than we have received from them.

I have often thought about the utility infrastructure and the power grid (electric, gas, water, sewer.) We are so totally dependent on them. I have a little unheated cottage about a half hour west of where I live. In the event of the grid going out, I'd be much better off there. Particularly, with a well, and water, and the ability to cook without electric or gas, it is a much better option.

When I was a senior at UofM, I lived with a Prof and his wife in an old farmhouse. I split a couple cords of wood that year. But with the house heated by firewood, and with a stream and a hen house, it was so much less dependent on utilities. Without your own generator and heat source and water source, you are sunk.

Consumers Energy and they piss me off about things, DTE is always there to remind me of how much much much worse it COULD be. It pisses me off to no end that I have to deal with those crooks for natural gas to my house. I'd rather deal with Charter or Comcast.

Disclaimer: I've never had cable so I have no idea how bad Charter or Comcast can be. Just from horror stories.

Because Los Angelenos don't freak out due to a little rain. And those floods in California earlier were nothing. Of course, that was preceded by a drought.
Yea, none of those weather ruining things. I guess I don't know why California's weather is commonly featured on the national news.

The floods were nowhere near me, and none of the other things has prevented me from going about my daily life. Unlike a huge blizzard, where you can get snowed in for days and all your plans get ruined.

California's weather is commonly featured on the national news due to high population and ecological interest.

except when Nantz thinks he's a comedian and tries to slip in his cheezy one-liners.  He needs to leave that to Raftery.  I think Grant Hill does a good job, but I wish he'd speak more.  They sure were slurpin' our syrup during the BTT game

He's a professional.  He's not going to let some 25 year old college grudge determine his actions now (if he even has one, it was more like Jalen that had it).

He certainly appeared to appreciate Michigan players and fans in the BTT final.

basketball.  Very knowledgeable guy.  But often when he tries to be funny, he comes off like a dweeb.  He made some really stupid composer joke when talking about Wagner at one point.   Plus a few other similar inane comments.

please spare me the sonorous tones of Jim Nantz.  His comments about the Fab Five were as expected as his defense of all things PGA.  He's a humorless self-righteous prig.  He's certainly no Al Michaels, Dick Enberg, Bob Costas or even Mike Tirico.

I hope Raftery found something to kill that frog in his throat from last weekend. I felt like I had a bad cold just listening to him.
