I wish there was a better rivalry thing we could do besides defacing each others campuses.  This paint can be quite expensive and damaging to remove.  I know they got our Diag a few times.   There has to be something better we can do to jab one another.

I know!

We can have a game of rugby foot ball with those scallywags from East Lansing and hurl our elevens at them until they beg for forbearance.

I am assured it would be quite the spectacle, as it is in the Eastern environs surrounding Cambridge and New Haven.

It could be the start of something really big.

This is what it's all about as a college student at a big time sports school. It's harmless, easy to clean and kind of fun.

We have out students guarding the diag (and hopefully other landmarks) and they have theirs.

go as far as "awesome."  I guess it is an expected evil.  It is not that big of a deal but I am certainly not pumping my fist like "yeah, take that Magic."

Am I the only one who thinks that the people wearing those styrofoam Spartan helmet thingees look like Marvin Martian? "[puff, puff, puff, puff] Being disintegrated makes me very angry, very angry indeed! [puff, puff, puff, puff]"

Someone is going to take the "it's just rivalry fun" stuff too far and there will be a bunch of hurt feelings. The line between fun and stupid is very thin and very grey and given the general tendency for trying out do the other eventually that line will be crossed and it will be each sides own fault.

seriously doubt this was done by a Michigan student and probably not even by a Michigan fan.  It is really crazy the lengths that State students will go to to ensure they have been properly disrespected.  I really do suspect that this was probably done by MSU students, not just saying that.

Do you feel that way because you don't want to believe Michigan fans are that crass?

To jump to that theory and ignore that Michigan fans and students over the years have demonstrated some poor behavior (Treetops, using racial slurs agains Gardner, etc.) is interesting. I could absolutely see this action being done a Michigan fan before an MSU fan.

Every fan base has plenty of idiots and every university has it's fair share of morons and Michigan isn't any different.

way, I know a ton of Michigan fans, an absolute ton of them, and there is not one of them that would consider doing this let alone actually do it.  I think if it was a Michigan "fan," it was a student or group of students, drunk, who thought it would be funny.  But logistically, they get all liquored up and then hop on 696 for an hour of so to do a half-ass job spray painting an "M" on the Magic Johnson statue and then get out of town?  Breslin is not very far from Sparty, there is nobody wondering over that way?  I don't know.  Just doesn't add up to me.

this is pretty dumb.  vandalism is not school spirit.  yes, i'm a boring lawyer, but i don't think your average wolverine fan thinks this is great either.
