MSU Snowflakes

This will be your repository for thoughts about how MSU looked today, and how the game will play out next week. Of special interest: whether Lewerke and his various receivers are likely to have much success against our D.

Outside of their scripted opening TD drive, MSU's only points today came on drives that started in Iowa territory. We just can't shoot ourselves in the foot with turnovers. Make them drive the length of the field against our D and I like our chances.

Unfortunately it doesn't work that way.  We will get their absolute best when we play them.  They will be favored as they should be.  There will nothing easy about this game and it is looking to be a more difficult game than perhaps we thought pre-season.  Many doubted PSU's lofty ranking but thus far, they look the part.  As long as McSorley and Barkley are healthy, they will be difficult to beat.  This looks to be the toughest game on our schedule.

Their offense is a horrific nightmare of terribleness. I really hope they try to run Lewerke like that against Michigan because it will not end well for them.

Some here are worried about him getting out of the pocket, but I think Bush will lock that down. QB scrambles are often effective because they catch the defense off guard, but I've never seen someone react to plays and shift his focus accordingly as fast as Bush does.

their defense looked pretty good. Iowa caveats apply, but its an obvious step up from Purdue's defense. if our O line can prevent JOK from getting killed, we win. i think it will be a low scoring affair though. first to 17 wins.

They bring everyone within 10 yards and leave their safeties in isolated coverage. With a secondary that is questionable athletically other than Layne. So far, no one has taken advantage of that coverage. JH better find a way to punish them for that risky D. If JH is as great at Xs and Os and scheming as his reputation, this game should be filled with punishing plays down the seams and over the top,

I fully expect Harbaugh to have an overall record of 2-1 against MSU as of next Sunday morning. One fluke play will be all that has separated Harbaugh from an undefeated record against Sparty.

Well you can call me crazy because I think we win by 3 touchdowns. I'm also kind of thinking how in the hell did that Iowa team nearly beat penn state? If you were impressed by anything that just happened in that terrible football game you're going to have to explain to me what and how?

Iowa did not test MSU’s weakness at CB, their QB giftwrapped a turnover to MSU, and MSU’s OL was rarely tested by blitzes. Oh and they could not run the ball with anyone not named Lewerke. Iowa looked flat. They played flat. They also almost lost to Iowa State who is not good.
