MSU Slappy in DetNews and Recruiting Rankings

It's a slow Saturday night....discuss:

But in the case study here — comparing Michigan, Michigan State and Notre Dame — the rankings of recruiting classes means virtually nothing.

Why bring it up now, in June, when the players being ranked won't play a college game for more than a year? Well, ESPN came out with its early rankings this week and there was a lot of chest-thumping in Ann Arbor. The Wolverines were rated sixth and the Irish 13th.

The Spartans? Not among the top 25. Granted, they have only five commitments for 2012, but they were not included, nonetheless.

My question is: Is there anyone who is surprised by this?

So which is it Mr.MSU Slappy? Recruiting rankings mean "virtually" nothing or you complaining about MSU not being ranked yet, which you seem to be doing by your quote "not included, nonetheless....is there anyone surprised by this?"

I stopped reading the article (after a bout 5 seconds) once I got to his line: " ...recruiting rankings mean little when it comes to results on the field." This is abviously  another guy who doesn't  trust (i.e. understand) the data on the correlation between recruiting rankings and on the field results.

And the Sparties were all repeating the Det News slappy's points. I stayed away but some else took the bait. Logic is not Sparty's strong suit.
