This year, when we put up 9 wins, all of the negative recruiting and writing goes away. If this kid doesn't want to get aboard, he will miss the boat. Best of luck to him, but this is Michigan! There will be others that will be happy to take his place, with just as much athleticism, should he not see himself as a Wolverine.

I'll end up with a lot of negative points for this, but some of these kids are being contacted and "de-recruited by Anti RR people from Michigan.  If this not the case then why would these kids seem to buy the negative information so easily?  These kids are not easily swayed by other programs tossing out some negative information.  We have to give them more credit than that.  My next question would be how the hell does a coach at another program know the inner workings of a rival?   It's painfully too obvious to me that the negative recruiting is an inside job.

pass me that tin foil hat over there son.

It's just one of the natures of the beast in recruiting. Nobody on the Iowa staff (or MSU staff, for that matter) has any knowledge of the inner workings in Ann Arbor (although I'm sure one of them could give the impression that he does). Saying "they're all going to be fired" is just a scare tactic. Is it a possibility? Absolutely, we all know that. But there's no "inside info" being whispered into these kids' ears. It's just the typical negative recruiting that's always gone on. A few years ago it was "Oh, Lloyd is sick, you don't wanna go there, he's gonna retire soon." Now it's "Oh, Rich and all the others are getting fired, the AD doesn't support them, they're going down."

As for why recruits buy it, well...do you really trust high school kids to think clearly and think things through all the time?

agree with the possibilty of negative recruiting at other universities.  I do not agree with your assumption that these kids are making decisions without some feedback from parents and or coaches or other advisors ie family friends or ministers.

My speculation

1.  there are persons in the Athletic Dept.  who would leak possibly damning info to the press.

2.  Dave Brandon has acknowledeged there is a split in the "Michigan Family".

3.  Former players/Alums openly show contempt for the present coach in the media.

4.  Former players trashing the head coach on their way out the door (proven to be false)

5. Alumni in the media has trashed the coach before a game is played.

But there are no Michigan employees that wou;d tamper with or contact a prospective recruit and warn him that RR and his staff would be gone before he graduates.  I know what it sounds like I really want to say this would never happen, but look at all the other crap that I would never like to see happen at Michigan.

Putting myself in the recruits shoes, I would question going to Michigan too if the coaches might not be there in one year. I think this a very reasonable concern for a kid and I think we can squash it with some early Ws. Honestly if he wants to go to state and win 7 games and get mashed in a bowl game, let him.

Trust me, a year or two from now you won't be saying that.  Sparties still will.

Remember, MSU couldn't get 7 wins last year, after a bowl game and without OSU on their schedule.  It's not like their season was leaps and bounds ahead of ours.

For many, many reasons. But among them would've been the sheer delight I would've felt the first time somebody tried to negatively recruit and say, "You don't wanna go to school X, because this might be true." I would say, "Yes, well, it might. But it might also be true here as well, and at least they don't go around stabbing their competition in the back."

And then I would get up and leave. I'd leave the coach flabbergasted.

I'd be fine with a solid win over UCONN but not running up the score (no need to score again if we're up by 21 in the 4th). I still feel bad for those kids after the stabbing last year.

This is one of the dumbest recruiting threads I have ever seen

But, it doesnt surprise me since its subject matter tailors itself to the conspiracy, WAH WAH WAH EVerybody is out to get my Michigan, crowd.

Quit breathing heavy on high school boys, go to beach and talk to somebody in a bikini.

Go do it now!!!

Jamie is telling you to go out of the house, and (gasp) talk to an actual girl. Who lives near you. And you have a chance with.

Not some girl who you've seen in someone's avatar.

I am a huge success story when it comes to education.  I suffer from dyslexia, but I find I can read better when scripts are typewritten on green or yellow paper.  I'm an inspiration to all young dyslexics out there.

Also, I made out with Keira Knightley.  I'm a badass.
