It  says 'he is definitely returning" in quotes which means Morris said that. Then the rest is conjecture from a non reputable source. Why worry?

"Editor's note: A previous version of this story named Darius Morris as a member of MSU's team. This version is correct." Lol "Darius Morris said all the right things after Sunday's loss to Duke ended his sophomore season. He said he "definitely" would return for his junior year. For Michigan's success next season, that is crucial. But Morris will investigate his draft status." He's coming back.

THIS IS A NON-FUCKING STORY.  THERE IS NOTHING NEW HERE.  ALL MORRIS HIMSELF HAS SAID IS THAT HE'S COMING BACK.  THIS IS MARK SNYDER MAKING SHIT UP BECAUSE HE CAN'T FIND ANYTHING ELSE TO WRITE ABOUT.  SO FUCKING SICK OF THIS SHIT FROM THE FREEP.

THIS SHOULD TELL YOU EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW:

Editor's note: A previous version of this story named Darius Morris as a member of MSU's team.

Agreed, this is pure speculation, going so far as to put words in Morris' mouth. This is the worst kind of sports journalism. To take a page from Snyder's book:

"Morris hasn't said that he will refuse to speak to Mark Snyder or the Freep next year, so we have absolutely no reason to believe this will be so. However, when a paper as shitty as the freep puts out such a terrible article suggesting completely unfounded claims, he'll have to consider it."

Nothing but speculation framed like it is actually Morris' train of thought. A terrible fucking article, I would curse out Snyder if I saw him in person.

This to me reads like an opinion article from Snyder, so I think this is a bad thread title.

So with my feelings that this was an opinion article by our good friend Snoops, why even write it Mr. Snyder? Darius has not given any indications as of yet that he is even going to explore is options. Quit trying to stir the pot.

Mindless speculation?  Opposite what the player said himself?  Crappy reporting? PANIC!!!

Although, PS, Donovan Warren said he was coming back right after the OSU game as well...

I agree that Darius stating that he was coming back for sure in the heat of the moment after a heartbreaking loss was probably a little early to pencil him in to the starting lineup next year for sure.

However, until Darius himself says that he will explore his position in the draft, this article does not need to be written. It was written to stir the pot, and create web hits. They got what they wanted.

The freep publishing a story with no facts in order to create a controversy where there otherwise is none? Who'd a thunk it?  Until Darius says or does something that remotely looks like he's leaving, I'm assuming he's staying.  I will not buy into Snyder's b.s. and negativity. So far as I can tell Morris is not Harris, and Harris left after his junior year.  But yeah Mark, one guy left so the other guy must be leaving too.  Must be fun to see fire where there isn't even smoke.   Clearly all Snyder did was make an overarching generalization without taking Morris' particular traits into account.   Really, this is just terrible journalism.

Nothing to see here at the moment - this is just Snyder being Snyder.  Darius hasn't said anything to substantiate the assertion that he is contemplating bolting for the NBA - in fact just the opposite is true.  Is it possible that he may end up testing the waters?  Sure.  However, until Darius says something that contradicts his original statement, this is just Snyder attempting to generate controversy/discussion while at the same time creating uneasiness in a fan base.

AnnArbor.com fired a bunch of content contributors this month. An explicit reason given was insufficient clicks on some topics.  Print links still count for eyeballs if not direct revenue from ad views.

I would not be surprised if some of the MGoBoard members exist solely to link articles on other sites.

When asked, to a man, the MSU football team claimed that they "Have not committed first degree murder at any point."

Can we REALLY be sure? We can't, can we?

Please change the title, luckily I saw the story first so I knew that you were full of shit to begin with....but for others this could cause a problem. It says nothing of the sort. It basically says that analysts saying he could be a high draft pick could cause him to look at his options.

"Bear Not a Sure Thing to Shit in the Woods": The bear could not be reached for comment, so we can only be left to speculate.  Certainly, most bears shit in the woods, but that is not always the case.  And we can't forget the Goldilocks incident a few years back, which indicates that when it comes to bears, anything is possible.  We can only sit back and wait.

"Government Hasn't Confirm that Japanese Quake Wasn't Caused by Aliens": We know that earthquakes can occur without aliens... at least we think so.  And when we asked the government about it, they simply laughed and said "you are a dumbass. Go away."  But what else could they say?  If the answer was "yes," they would obviously have to say "no." So it's tough not to read too much into it when they say no. And I, for one, would welcome our new earth-controlling alien overlords.

"Is Mountain Dew Made out of People?": Soylent Green has proven that if you are green food products raise red flags.  Mountain Dew does list its "ingredients" on the side of the bottle, none of which is "people."  But the fourth listed ingredient is "natural flavors," which could easily be code for people.  Moreover, my research* turned up no one who could tell me what Sodium Benzoate or Phenylalnine are.  So until we get the Wonka tour of the Mountain Dew factory, I suggest we all drink with caution.

*I asked Rosenberg and Sharp.  Neither knew.

Her/his name, after all, is Team Douche.

The article itself is a kind of concern trolling, from a paper that seems to have decided that's the only way to elicit reads.

And I think that works, for a while, anyway. For a long time I'd go and try to puzzle over a Drew Sharp, work to understand his motives, argue with him in my head. You weary of that, though, and resentment builds. Suddenly you've brightened up enough not to bother.

Saddens me because as a kid my family had all kinds of reasons why they hated the News and loved the Freep.  .  .

"Yea, but you can't be sure, right?"

"No.  I just said I am DEFINITELY coming back."

"Fine.

That article was just dumb. When he says point blank he's coming back, he's probably going to come back. Unlike Manny Harris, I think Darius actually likes school and wants to be here. I'm more worried about him coming back for his senior year.

The freep and Snyder can go hang themselves by their balls. They suck, sad excuse for journalism

Again, don't link to their stories!

Ha, I just sent an email to the author and got a response. Here is what I said, douchely:

Hey Mark,

Just wanted to comment on the awful quality of the story you just wrote. Did the Freep really not catch that Darius Morris doesn't play for MSU before it was published? And can you really consider yourself a journalist if you take "Darius Morris says he's definitely coming back next year" and spin a story about how that means he's not coming back at all?

Hoping someone with a high school diploma replaces you before the Freep goes belly up,
My Real Name

And here is what he replied with, moments later:

That's why it's an opinion piece, you are free to disagree with me, as long as it's civil.

As for the headline, a headline writer made a mistake. It was clearly not intentional and was corrected quickly this morning.

Thanks for reading,
Mark
