More speculation on silent commitment

Submitted by Losher on
According to 247 Michigan staff members will be in Georgia to mecole hardman jr this weekend. There is also thought that the silent commitment would be made some time in the next two days. Then there is this quote from hardman from earlier this year where he said his commitment would be made in the silent form and then announce it publicly on NSD. I know this is just some speculation as to what is going on but this is just another thing to stoke the fire and keep it going into the next day.

Harbaugh has officially turned NSD into a drug-riddled music festival full of conspiracy theorists wearing tin foil hats and Michigan T-shirts.

As I recall, "conspiracy" came from the Latin "conspirare", which means "to plot", so if nothing else, some words have not changed too much in form or meaning in a couple millenia, which is rather interesting really.

Then again, when I think about it, one of the most lasting words / constructs in human history has to be "bullshit" - we've probably had that in our lives since at least the days of Homo erectus, possibly earlier.

may literally be the most misused word there is, aside from literally (wink). It has come to mean any idea not generated from major media think tanks, or any belief inconsistent with Wikipedia. Like, 9/11 WAS a conspiracy, by its official narrative, it is, by definition, a "conspiracy theory."

I was told the work FUCK, all capitalized to signify its status as an acronym, is simply just that, and with each letter representing an indiviudal word it, when first introduced was widely accepted to mean Fornication Under the Crown  of the King.

While certainly interesting, I am not a learned man and with no fear that I will be viewed in a lesser manner due to my confession of limited education, I ask, do you  think this is a legitimate possiblity or just the result of a bunch of sailors on liberty?

The one I remember hearing about was For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge, and the abbreviation was on the stocks where convicted villains had to face the scorn of their neighbors.  Here's a wonderfully titled essay that says both assertions are false (or at least conspiracy theories):

http://www.snopes.com/language/acronyms/fuck.asp

The just-a-word defense:

[Fuck] is a very old word, recorded in English since the 15th century (few acronyms predate the 20th century), with cognates in other Germanic languages. The Random House Historical Dictionary of American Slang (Random House, 1994, ISBN 0-394-54427-7) cites Middle Dutch fokken = "to thrust, copulate with"; Norwegian dialect fukka = "to copulate"; and Swedish dialect focka = "to strike, push, copulate" and fock = "penis". Although German ficken may enter the picture somehow, it is problematic in having e-grade, or umlaut, where all the others have o-grade or zero-grade of the vowel.

But don't ask me what the fu-- heck that last sentence means.

When I wake up, I will have to poop before I go to work.

Wait a minute, I do not work on Saturday.

Therefore, I officially know nothing other than the qty of long island ice tea I have had tonight.

The qty of which I have no idea.

I am definitely going to bed.
