More Sparty Crying about Chris Frey

Submitted by Mojo Hall on

Chris Frey's father is upset at the officiating rather than the likelihood that his son played with a concussion without even being checked by MSU for that under concussion protocol.

"Instead of asking questions about our MSU Training Staff. Why don't you start asking the B1G about a targeting review that they skipped."

Right, that 15 yards and ejection for our specials team's player may have lead to a difference in outcome, just like Riley Bullough.

More Sparty tears.  Link is below.

He's not bitching about holding calls or saying that the refs are why they lost. He's responding to this tweet.

That guy is using the hit as ammo for whatever agenda he has with concussions-for-profit.

Frey's point is, why isn't he asking about on-field officials given the duty of protecting the players - rather than the medical staff who has to deal with the aftermath..

This thread really got off the rails

And mr frey doesnt seem very smart

Reminds me of Roy Roundtree's hit on a Sparty player during one of Dileo's long catch and runs in 2012.

For some reason, we continuously prove that we don't understand rules and don't know how to read.

The "crown" of the helmet is different than "helmet-to-helmet." There is helmet-to-helmet contact, but not with the crown of the helmet.

When Chris Frey is attempting to make a tackle, he is not a "defenseless" player.

Neither interpretation of targeting makes this a foul.

"When Chris Frey is attempting to make a tackle, he is not a "defenseless" player. Neither interpretation of targeting makes this a foul." Bush was PROTECTING the ball carrier, not targeting a helpless player. Hard clean hits are part of football. If plays like this become "targeting" just because of their ferocity the game ceases to exist.

1) The crown of the helmet starts at the top of the facemask.

"We want everyone to understand that the crown of the helmet starts from the area above the facemask to the dome of the helmet."

NCAA Football Secretary-Rules Editor Rogers Redding

This is hitting with the crown per the rule book:

2) Defenseless player (Rule 2-27-14): A player who receives a blind-side block.

Per Mike Perriera:

Blind side block: "When the member of an offensive team comes back toward his own goal line and blocks a player from the side or from behind"

1. Re: the crying about targeting:
Two years ago, Chris Frey was himself ejected for targeting a UM player.

2. Re: MSU and concussions:
“MSU has the most revealed cases of football alumni who have suffered from Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (seven).”

(By mistake, I clicked on this freep link and was surprised to find something negative about MSU rather than UM.  But this material was buried toward the article's end and its inclusion was probably just an editorial slip-up)

and if I was his Dad I would be talking to the MSU medical staff about why he returned so quickly. Doesn't matter if the kid said he felt fine a shot like and then laying on the field for a while had concussion written all over it. At the very least they should've kept him out a little longer and given him time to recover.

The Michigan-MSU game always seems to be a strange affair.  The calls are notoriously atrocious, and usually well in favor of MSU.  Seems like there's way more injuries in this game than Michigan-OSU.  It's never clean.  And the refs are mostly to blame for letting things get out of hand.  This sort of adds up to Michigan not being able to "escape" the grips of the game and showcase their superior talent and athleticism.  Slightly off topic but had to get that off my chest.

I think the hit on Frey should've probably been targeting, mainly because the hit snapped his head around and it appeared to me that he didn't see it coming.  But then again we're talking about B1G refs in the M-MSU game.  Of all the horseshit calls they made against Michigan, I would've been totally OK with that call.

This kinda reminds me of the Frey family...

On the other hand, do we really care about a helicopter parent running his mouth on the interwebs?
