More Dee Hart EE Fluff

Submitted by DGDestroys on

This article from Chris Hays at the Orlando Sentinel. It's much of the same that we've been hearing, but it does drop some quality knowledge here and there.

Florida is not the only school making a push. He had a visit from Michigan running backs coach Fred Jackson, a visit from Muschamp, who also called Hart the night before the big game, and he said he has also been in contact with Florida State offensive line coach Rick Trickett.

Hart said his plan is to leave for college Jan. 21, but most schools are well into spring semester by then.

One thing that will get in the way of his college entry will be the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Jan. 8, in San Antonio, Texas. Participants for the event will be in San Antonio for most of the first week of January.

The last day to register at Alabama is Jan. 19, and that school is the latest starter for spring semester among schools Hart has considered. Florida's last day to register is Jan. 11, Michigan Jan. 7 and Florida State classes start Jan. 4.

On Muschamp, HaHa, and UF

"He's a nice man," Hart said of Muschamp. "He'd been with coach (Nick) Saban for awhile so he obviously knows what he's doing. I think he'll come in and make that program what it is ... Florida's ... always been a high-ranked school so i think he'll keep it there."

Hart and Clinton-Dix will make an official visit to Gainesville sometime in January.

"That's my last one. I'm done," Hart said of the Florida visit.

RR stays so does Dee, if he goes, so goes Dee. After reading this I am assuming that the Dr. Phillips squad will not be making it back up to Michigan? It would be nice to get them on campus together one last time before signing day.

I hope Michigan has adjusted their ridiculous Winter Break (aka "no Winter Break"), but I fear they have not.  I vaguely remember classes starting around January 6th for the Winter Semester.  This would not bode well for Dee enrolling early.

My last final is Wednesday. I have friends who fly out on thursday or even friday, only to come back on the 2nd. Basically a complete waste of money, but who isn't going to fly home for Christmas?

We end way later than some schools and start way earlier. And some say they work just as hard as we do... psh. In my experience, my second semester is always worse, partly because of total burnout.

Anyway, classes start up the 5th. I think the 21st would probably be before the late add deadline, but he better be in some damn easy classes to do that. Though it might help him stay and it's mostly our fault with the CC uncertainty, it seems like just enrolling whenever one wants sort of makes early enrollment unfair. Seems like if you want to EE, you should have to go when the school says. Not badtalking Dee or any other recruit, just saying.

classes start on the 5th this year, but as Devin Gardner showed last year you only have to be enrolled by the start of classes not actually on campus.

EDIT: the add/drop deadline is three weeks after classes start so if he shows up on the 21st he should still be able to start classes

But wait, it's all about the student athletes and their academics!  We can't possibly have a playoff because they'll miss too much school.

Oh, so we did have to send a coach down there to talk Dee Hart out of a decommit because of the coaching decision timetable.

Shhhh... don't tell Magnus.

Come on now, Dudeness.  Don't you think that's a bit extreme.

Is he outspoken?  Yes.  Do I always agree with him?  Hardly.  Does he back up his stances with solid facts?  Yeah.

And besides, even jg2112 is playing nice with Magnus these days.  If that isn't telling, I don't know what is.

Yes, the biggest gripe I have with him is his propensity to twist the facts and use them to support his arguments (which I disagree with frequently, not that it's a problem). He's a revisionist too, which is slightly irritating, but yes, just because he's an assistant coach in HS football does not mean he knows it all (and it seems if he acts that way sometimes).

I do read his site though, at least he deos come up with constructive bits and pieces of info an e-pinion, which is more than most of us can say.

Magnus is a lot nicer than he used to be; he has apparently learned to suffer fools with a lot more grace than he used to.  He's a little gruff and direct, but so are most football coaches.  I will admit that it took me a few months go get used to his style, but I have learned quite a bit from his posts.

As for his knowledge, his statements/predictions usually turn out to be right.  I can think of two or three people here who know as much about football as he does.  You are not on that "list."  I won't tell anyone here what to do, but you may try disassociating yourself from your ANGAR when reading his posts and seeing them for what they are: a coach talking about football.

If you find his posts a little gruff, just remember a coach in any sport who got on your ass, never let you slack for an instant, and turned out to be right in retrospect.

The number of times that I have said "I coach football" on this site is vastly outweighed by the number of times that people like you have brought it up.  I probably haven't brought up that fact in a couple years, other than comments like "This is what our program does" or "This is a drill that we do" or something like that.  And if you don't like me sharing tidbits about drills, techniques, and schemes from my coaching experience that might relate to Michigan football, then I don't know what to tell you.  I guess you'll just have to suffer.  This website is about football (and other sports).  You'd probably have less of a problem with me if I posted a bunch of .gif files and Youtube videos like a hundred other guys on the website, but instead, 90% of my posts on this football blog are about football analysis, recruiting, etc.  How tragic.

This is literally the second thread I've opened today in which you've invoked my name before I read or even posted in the thread.

Don't you find that even a little strange?

Oh, and please tell me where in this thread it says that a coach flew down to Florida to talk Hart out of decommitting?  I'm not saying it didn't happen, but there's nothing in this thread that proves it.

I forget which post I saw it in, but someone broke down the first day of classes and the last day to enroll in classes for each of the schools Dee could end up at (Michigan, Florida, Alabama).

Apologies for lack of specifics, but Florida and Alabama's last day to enroll for classes was middle of January, if I remember correctly, while Michigan's last day was at the end of January.  In other words, this bodes well for Michigan.

Steve Sharik in this thread

Let's see here:

Dee and Ha-Ha both say they're 85-90% playing college ball together

Dee still plans to EE, says "I leave January 21st."

UM 1st day of class Jan. 5, last day to add a class Jan. 25*

UF 1st day of class Jan. 5, last day to add Jan. 11

UA 1st day of class Jan. 12, last day to add Jan. 19

FSU 1st day of class Jan. 4, last day to add Jan. 7

As far as dates go, it's looking best for Michigan.

That said, I think we all, myself included, would be best served to lightly regard all of the news and take a big chill pill until all the LOIs are signed, sealed, and delivered.

*The key with all of these last add day deadlines is that most of them are "without dean's permission;" i.e., he could probably still add if the football program/AD expressed to the dean the importance of the young man's enrollment.

Again the whole "wait and see what happens to RR" might bite us in the rear on Dee, BUT and I say BUT look at our commits and how many have shared their thoughts on the CC and want to play at Michigan BECAUSE ITS MICHIGAN!! The school and football program are bigger than one person...they know this!! One commit WILL NOT make or break our program or team spirit!! I will gladly welcome Dee IF he decides to honor his verbal commitment, and I will say good luck if he spurns us as well...and will count they days till we play him and Ha Ha at Cowboys stadium and show them the errors of their ways in choosing the Tide over us. GO BLUE!!!

Gotta edit that last part of my post....we wont be going against Ha Ha or Dee at Bama....sounds like they are BOTH chomping at the bit to be Gators after reading the UF boards! Muschamp is putting the full court press on these two, and all we send is Fred Jackson?? Oh well there are others who dream of being a Wolverine and are welcomed with open arms!! GO BLUE!!

If Rodriguez Stays then Hart stays.  What is there to panic about?

Hart is the type of running back that needs a Rodriguez type offense so he is not minimalized or pushed into a slot back role.  He is clearly someone who is putting more priority on playing football than where he gets his degree.

I believe what is being pointed out by Magnus and many others about recruiting is that a large number of recruits are signing up to play for and Attend classes at the University of Michigan and have faith that the University will make sure they are coached by the best coaching staff that can be acquired.  Because it's Michigan.

Does that mean there aren't players like Dee Hart?  No.  Does it nullify the argument that recruiting is like this all the time, and some players are never a lock until they sign on the dotted lone? No.

So comments like "shush, don't tell Magnus" are just childish, ignorant and provide no information to further the discussion.

Unless that discussion is about who you do or don't like.

It is going to be so interesting around here when first everyone realizes that it will take more than a few hours after the bowl game for David Brandon to complete his review of the football coaching staff.  Probably at least 3-4 days for this website and main stream media in general to concoct piles of uninformed make-believe.  Then when Rich Rodriguez is retained, potentially GERG is retained, and David Brandon then issues one press release and interview that says again there are many things he evaluates about a coach, and how great it was for the staff and players that they could focus 100% on the bowl game, it's going to be such an anti-climax that only the worst of the worst in media will continue trying to create something from nothing.

And basically nothing will have changed, some recruits will be indecisive, and some reporters will write whatever they please, independent of what is actually said.  But for most of us, we'll have our trust renewed that Employees of the University of Michigan (Michigan Men and Women) pretty much say what they mean and mean what they say.  No reason to read between the lines.

It was interesting to learn that Michigan sent Fred Jackson to visit Dee Hart. Now I realize that Fred Jackson will be his RB coach but is there more to this choice? Perhaps it is because he will be the only coach who will 100% still be at Michigan regardless of who will be the head coach next season. Also Fred probably was trying to explain to Dee that no matter who the coach is he will be a great fit for Michigan. I for one hope that DB gives RR the chance to succeed and finish out his contract. Would be incredible to sign Dee and HaHa.
