Moderator Action Sticky 2015

Submitted by Seth on August 28th, 2015 at 12:35 PM
What moderating looks like on the back end.
New season means new sticky, since these get cumbrously long.
What this thread is for: It's an ad-hoc way of tracking what threads and comments get removed. Mods that remove a thread should post the title here with a brief reason as to why the thread is gone.
NOTE: if you leave an irrelevant comment in this thread it will be deleted (see: "cumbrously long").
Before you look for your thread:
1. Was it offensive/political/off topic?
2. Did it link to Drew Sharp, something Mike Valenti said, or Ace Williams?
3. Is there another thread in the last few days on the board that addresses the same topic?
Hall of Stickies Past:
The first, the second, the third. the fourth.

HARBAUGH needs a stylist

I dare say that the OP probably needs to come up with a more comprehensive fashion critique before trying this subject again. Actually, no....don't do that either. Let Harbaugh be Harbaugh.

ESPN Is The Worst (but we already knew that)

The "Harbaugh To Colts" thing that ProFootballTalk started was really already covered, but I would agree, ESPN is the worst sometimes, especially when it comes to futile NFL speculation that they can turn into an 8-hour news event which lacks actual news.

The college recruitment of Tom Brady

Granted, during the season, the blog is prone to lapping itself with stories like this, but usually it isn't within hours of the original thread....and using the same title too, save for the lack of capitalization on "college" and "recruitment", as some observed.

Because oddly enough, I've figured out how to do this while mobile....sort of...

Why do broadcast teams always come to the Big House and kiss the other team's shoes?

They do this in a lot of games not involving Michigan too. ABC / ESPN is funny like that.

Snowflake: Offense

Snowflake thread masked as not a snowflake thread turns out to be snowflake thread after all. Fail.

BYU SnowFlakes?!

Apparently, this needs to be explained again - the term "snowflakes" refers to the flurry of thoughts - potentially threads - that would otherwise clog the board and drown out better content. It is non-judgmental with respect to the quality of the game, whether Michigan won or lost, etc...

I assumed that was clear.

Is "It" upon us already?

It is upon us - the eclipse and the Blood Moon are nearing peak and you won't see this again until 2033. If you can, enjoy that - not the "it" the OP was dicussing per se.

Week 4 Bowl Projections

We've already got a discussion of this up - another topic where I think you have to get up pretty early in the morning to get this past the blogerati here.

September 28th, 2015 at 11:49 PM ^

Is it time for the Big Ten to start being afraid of Michigan?

The same poster double posting two threads in a row has to be some kind of record. Can we get a Superguide ruling on this?

Hurricane Joaquin open thread...

I am just going to go out on a limb and say we're fine for Hurricane Joaquin coverage as it relates to this weekend's game for the time being.

Michigan vs Utah Rose Bowl kickoff

MSU Kickoff

I think we just have to deal with what TV gives us....quietly, stoically. In any case, I get it - speculating on kickoff time is ultimately rather futile.

Dave Brandon: Toys R Us and Outsourcing EDIT: Mods, delete

Removed at the request of the OP. Yeah, I think there was a thread about this the other day that didn't go all that well actually.

OT: Hawaii Taking Their Nicknames a Little Too Seriously...

I don't think this was going too well, and indeed, opinion-based threads - especially about uniforms - are a dangerous proposition sometimes.

October 7th, 2015 at 1:59 PM ^

Posted on the front page with locked thread so board thread was superfluous. Prefer not to have anyone know we have readers who think this shit is okay.

October 8th, 2015 at 11:39 AM ^

Now that I have a chance to be reflective this week -

OT: Cubbies Win POSBANG!

Posbangs should be used sparingly outside the stated bounds from the "End Of OT" post in August.

OT: Drunk UConn student refuses to leave dining hall without bacon jalapeno mac and cheese, acts like douche, gets arrested

Funny as it was (that's why it stayed up as long as it did), I think we can move on now.

MIght add more later.

Warning, this post is extremely meta and many won't care. Fine, no need to read.

Normally every mod action on an OP ends with signed work somewhere. Whether that's here, or ending an OP with Mod edit: blah blah blah JGB. or posting a comment to the same effect. With the end of OT season we'll be removing (or maybe adding, but mostly removing) OT tags from posts that aren't off topic and frankly I don't think it's worth it to clutter posts or comments with a note saying why.

If anything else is changed there will be a note. If this happens to your post please don't take offense. If you have a question about it go ahead and ask here in the mod sticky.

October 12th, 2015 at 7:43 AM ^

(OT) Chase Utley

With some video and analysis, I would be tempted to let it stand, but simply stating that the suspension is "kind of a joke" isn't setting up well for a good discussion.

October 14th, 2015 at 3:11 PM ^

Fact: If we have posbangs in anticipation of every blog feature we'll implode in a meta/divide by zero situation.

Can someone help with guide to watching game in flight on Delta

Kiosk. OP got in touch with someone willing to help.

Pure Michigan: Harbaugh Edition

Already posted. For the most part, we have to assume that "Harbaugh" = "Posted within 5 minutes"

Beat State: Michigan Hype video

Turns out this is a duplicate thread.

2015 Hype Show : Beat State

I think this is the same video that was a duplicate earlier today, or at least the YOuTube link pointed the same hype video. It seems as if it has been removed too. If I am in error, let me know here and I'll restore it and apologies in advance if that's the case.

By popular snark/demand, I'll be doing something starting next week similar to LSA's snowflake threads. Comment with any suggestions, right now I'm thinking Wednesday but I'm open to anything that makes sense.

Might be a long night, but to stem the initial tide...

Dantonio = Tressel

There's a coaching snowflake. This wouldn't go over well there either.

Plenty of that in the misery thread, and rightly so.
