useless, arbitrary fluff

I thought this comment was overly harsh before I read the article. Now I agree. Absolutely no depth or substance at all.

I think it's a fair assessment. Speight played a good game against big ten defense. The wide receivers still not getting separation in the deep ball but the screen passes and slot receivers and TEs are stepping up big time. I would like to see more RB screens. As for special teams they didn't really play much since we only punted once so not sure why he game them a low grade

fisch is a master of the screen game. bet he's saving them

"...against a big ten defense."
Well, lets not get carried away, here. Right now, PSU's defense is as about 'Big Ten' as Purdue's defense. That's a pile of steaming hot garbage over in Happy Valley these days. And James Franklin isn't going to fix it.

B- might be a bit high on the qb, I would probably go with a C, but overall not bad.

61.8% for 189 and no INTs is pretty good, and that's with 2 or 3 drops. He also did a good job avoiding negative plays. On a day where he didn't really need to do more, that's at least B- in my book.

he had at least 4-6 horrible misses, two of which could have been touch downs. that's a C against a terrible defense in my eyes.

like yours walking out of the stadium. But a second watch and I think Speight had a really good day. He might have missed 3 or 4 badly but he zipped in a number of tough ones as well and converted big 3rd downs all day long. PSU ran a couple blitzes that Michigan picked up poorly that caused some of his bad or hurried throws. Better than C in my eyes

all that stuff s true, but again his was a terrible defense. that game against a good defense might be a loss

You were doing fine until this statement...

It's pretty easy to miss 3-4 throws when you have a free Blitzer not allowing you to step into your throw 3-4 times. That's football, man.

THREE backup linebackers, two of which got hurt. We (meaning they) need to chill. This week will say a lot more about the team.
Honestly, I think UCF and Penn State would be a good matchup.

was a good match up 2 years ago when PSU won 26-24, then they fell off the face of the Earth for a year. I don't doubt this years matchup would be a lot closer than PSU would like to believe.

No shit. PSU was JV at best.

Despite his RB grades (A+ for Smith, A for the rest), I would take Saquon Barkley in an instant to be our primary back.

So would 99% of the country.

being the main exceptions I can see.
