Minor OT - 100% pure Coaching Speculation
Mike Reiss is imo a pretty rational and reliable source of Patriot analysis and news. Although he did predict that Matt Cassel was going to be cut after the preseason FWIW. Either way he seems to think Loeffler could be a candidate to take over for Josh McDaniels as the Pats new QB coach.

Tom Brady lobbied for Loeffler a couple years ago I remember. Would love another UM connection on the Patriots to join Brady, Woods, Crable etc. . . .

I would think that would make Mr. Tom Brady pretty happy. Wait, I forgot, UM didn't develop TB worth a damn. It was all Weis-E-Coyote. Never mind.

I figured he would have promoted someone after he got the OC job.

Loeffler just changed jobs less than a couple weeks ago. Why would he switch again so quickly?

Because this is the New England Patriots.

You're right that Reiss is solid source. I've met him and he's a sincerely nice guy who seems to take his job seriously. Most sports journalism types in Boston are knuckleheads.
But I think "purely speculation" is the key here. Though I'm sure the Patriots would be tempting for Loeffler, I seriously doubt he'd dump Florida right after accepting the job.
Plus, from Loeffler's point of view, he's already got Brady and NFL on his resume. If anything, taking the Pats job limits him because it almost exclusively ties his success to Brady. But imagine how much his star rises if he's able to teach Tebow how to pass like an NFL QB. Of course, Tebow's going to improve anyway, but by showing up for one year, Loeffler will get all the credit. IMO, he stands to gain more professionally at Florida.

If he grows professionally at Florida then he may even be able to take his skills to the pinnacle of his profession...To the New England Patriots...oh wait.
