Mike Cox Playing Well for NY Giants

Submitted by littlebrownjug on

Mike Cox has made a couple of nice runs in the Giants game toinght. I only wish he could have translated some of his ability into more production at Michigan.

I just noticed he lead the team in rushing for that game but hadn't really tuned in since I didn't realize any Michigan players were trying to make the team.   He's a fantastic athlete, and hopefully he can put it together and succeed in the NFL.  In addition, I learned that the GIants have both Stevie Brown and Ryan Mundy on their roster.  If Rolle goes down, they could be on the field together.

He'd been cut by Oakland, was pretty much a try-out player in preseason, then kept making these amazing plays!  He's not a surprise anymore, but maybe Cox will be.  Gave up looking for his number until Carl Banks (former Giant/local TV color-man) made a comment about being impressed by Cox on special teams, and then again later complimenting him as gunner.  So who knows?  Once he got some blocking (and/or timing?) in scrub time with scrub O-line, he picked up more yards than the guy playing ahead of him.

As for Mundy, he came over from Pittsburgh and seems to be Stevie Brown's back-up, at least for the moment.  So along with David Baas as starting center, plenty of former Wolverines to keep track of on the Gints, even though two of them are officially from elsewhere (Mundy from WVa and Cox from UMass).

Why I love preseason.

No pol...who am I kidding? That's hilarious. Clearly, the voting public didn't think so, because that looks like he was running for governor, and I never even heard of him on the west side of the state.

better then most of our HBs, didn't they say he didn't hit the holes or something at UM. I wanted him out there, pissed they never gave him a shot.

and is the most talented back on the team but the mental side far lags to the rest of the RBs. Coaches hate mental mistakes like missed blocking assignment, missed the reads, goes to the wrong holes. Mental mistakes are what will kill the drive or QB.  They rather have less talented RBs who can make the right reads and decisions.

There is a reason why he never got a shot despite him playing well in spring ball.
