Michigan Women win vs Wright State in WNIT
Hallie Thome now has 1,000 points not even two full years in.
Flaherty had 22 points today. Was a 3 point with a minute left, so not exactly an ideal game. We killed Wright State last year in the WNIT.
A 7 point win and a 5 point win so far in this tournament.
They, as a team, are a bit miffed about not being in the NCAA tourney.
Well, if they're miffed, they should be miffed at themselves. Absolutely tanked it the last three weeks of the season.
In fact, not getting destroyed 2X by our arch rival with exceedingly disinterested performances would have been a good idea.
Payback for coach Donlon . . .
The team seemed really off, but built a 20 point lead. Near the end of the game WS nearly tied the game. Michigan was fortunate to win.
Wright State actually took the lead by one, 64-63, with about 5 minutes left and then scored just 2 points the rest of the way. Lackluster is definitely the word for Michigan's play, and they were very lucky to win.
To be honest, most of the teams in the WNIT simply aren't very good. So far, the Michigan women really haven't shown that they deserved an NCAA bid.
Still playing the same way they've been playing the last 3 weeks.
No sense of the competition, but they've led by 20 in the second quarter of both games and struggled in the second halves. A few days to regroup should help. The best way to respond to disappointing seeding/not making it (as we just saw with Wisconsin) is to beat everyone they put in front of you.
