Michigan Women's Football Academy

Submitted by Wendyk5 on
Just wanted to give all the females on this board a heads up about the MIchigan Women's Football Academy, an annual fund-raising effort that benefits The Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center. It's a day of football instruction, drills, and a scrimmage taught by RRod and the assistants for women only. All the participants are asked to raise at least $100 (hopefully more) each. I, for one, will be there. Here's the link: http://umccc.kintera.org/faf/home/default.asp?ievent=338964&lis=1&kntae… Go Blue!

for the last three years. One of my best friends has been doing it (that's what she said) since it started, and I finally said I would go in 2007, even though I had lost the 'passion' for Michigan football years ago. My husband says I am the big swinging dick in the house because I am REALLY into Michigan football now, probably more than I ever was as an undergrad(I'm not sure how to take that). I also started going to games again - I make the 3-4 hour drive at least 3 times a year now just to go to the game. I also learned a lot during the day-long (actually, it's not even a full day) academy and I now enjoy watching professional football, too. The point of this long post is that, for me, it is a great time and really sparked an interest that I really never had before. One tip, though...stretch before the day's activities begin. After the strength & conditioning drills I couldn't sit down for a couple of days (here it comes...that's what she said).

But I've been looking forward to this for awhile. I'm with KTchicago - I love football and am excited to get the chance to learn more, catch some passes, throw some passes, get my ass kicked by Barwis.............

I'd say I'd do it to prep for mudbowl... but no more women's mudbowl :[ But I have been wanting to do this since I first heard of it anyway, thanks for the link! EDIT: Well... I'll already be back in NY for my internship. Maybe if I have a free summer in the next 20 years...

...a few years ago and LOVED it. The participants met the coaches, and a lot of the players. She got to run out of the tunnel, get coached on different positions by the position coaches, compete in something punt-pass-and-kick-like (she won the kicking for her group!). This year and last year it has conflicted with things she couldn't miss, but she is dying to go back.
