Michigan wins today

I know there is another important game this afternoon and later this evening, but I want to get this score in before the other games starts.

The Michigan Softball team won yet another game by defeating a ranked Louisville Cardinal team 4-0.  This win bumped their record to 23-0.

Jordan Taylor was on the rubber today and pitched a wonderful game.  She allowed 0 ER on 7 hits (only 1 was for extra bases).  She walked 1 while striking out 8

Bree Evans scored the first Wolverine run in the top of the 4th inning.  She led off the inning with a triple off the wall in right-center field.  Colie Sappingfield drove her in with a single.

The Wolverines broke it open in the top of the 7th.  Caitlan Blanchard lead off the inning with a triple off the wall in left center.   Doyle popped out to 1B.  Amy Knapp drew a walk and stole second.  Bree Evans hit a single to CF, scoring Blanchard.  A throwing error allow the speedy Evans to advance to second.  Colie Sappingfield popped out to 3rd for the second out.  Dorian Shaw hit a single to center scoring both runs.  Amanda Chidester popped  out to SS to end the inning.

Louisville could not get anything going in the bottom of the 7th let alone the entire game.  The did have something going in the 4th but JT settled down and worked herself out of a jam.

Game time temperature was 65 degrees under a partly cloudy sky.

BTW;  Jr. SS Stephanie Kirkpatrick is out for the year following knee surgery the other day.  Amy Knapp has stepped up to the challenge and has done quite well.  (http://michigandaily.com/sports/knapp-make-shortstop-position-her-own-s…)

The team plays again right after the first game but I will be watching the MBB game so I will try to update the second game later.

Its great to be a Michigan Wolverine.....Go Blue

There is one other small silver lining regarding Kirkpatrick's unfortunate season-ending injury. She played in only 10 games, which is less than 20% of the total games scheduled and they were all in the first half of the season. That means she should qualify for a medical hardship waiver and could regain a year of eligibility.

for the update.  I forgot to include this data in my earlier post.

This could be a nice suprise; Amy gets in the grove and takes over for SS then Stephanie comes back for two more years.

We only lose JT and DS this year.  Now I know it is tough to lose 2 All Americans but the core of the team is intact for several years to come.  If Speierman can elevate her game then we will be golden.  We have an awesome core of Fr and So this year.

The future is very bright for us, bright indeed.

Really, the men's hockey team and the ladies softball team are really all we have to brag about anymore.

I root for every single Michigan team, including satelite and club teams.  It is not about winning so you can "brag" to your buddies at the bar.  it is about supporting OUR teams.

I root for my neices T ball team not because I want them to win, but because I want her to do well and have a great time.

at the very least you need to include mens basketball since they went from being predicted to finish last in conference to finishing 4th and making the tournament
