Michigan in Today's Great Lakes Invitational Hockey Tournament
Mates,
So it occurred to me that I hadn't heard anything about the GLI's this year, historically something we played in the week between Christmas and New Year's Day. It turns out that because the Pizzarena had Wings and Pistons games this past week, there was no time to have the tourney. Instead they are having it today and tomorrow. The schedule is as follows:
Michigan Tech (9-7-5) will open the GLI against Michigan State (8-9-1) at 2:30 p.m. at Little Caesars Arena. Michigan (7-7-2) will face Bowling Green (8-6-6) in the second semifinal at 6 p.m. And the 3rd and 1st place games will be played tomorrow/Tuesday, tough on attendance no doubt.
Michigan will be missing a few key guys who are at the Junior's tournament in NY. Anyway, could be a fun way to ring in the New Year, watch the Bowl game and then wander down to the LCA to see Michigan take on Bowling Green. Anybody going?
Happy New Year and Go Blue, beat USC (NTUSC) and BG!

Thanks for the heads up. I used to make it a point to go to the GLI whenever I was back visiting for the holidays. Anyone know if there is TV coverage?

The ol' "upper body injury." Hope he'll heal quickly.
Quinn Hughes & Josh Norris are also at the Juniors. USA beat Finland 5-4 to finish 2nd in group A behind Canada, which we beat 4-3 in a shootout in a snowy outdoor game. It's USA facing Russia in the quarters Tu night @ 8 on NHL Net.

actually, i read an article from a paper which won't be named that said this was a one year anomaly, and scheduling should be back to normal this next time around, i.e., between Christmas 2018 and the new year.
