Michigan Ranked 18th

Submitted by michiganman001 on

Michigan 18th in the latest AP Polll.

NW is 13th, OSU still 1st, MSU now 4th, and Utah is somehow lower at 5th

Come on man.  Michigan is clearly a good team, at worst - the beating we put on BYU is hard to minimize (compare how BYU has played against everyone else) and it's no small task to hold two straight Power 5 teams to barely 100 yards apiece.  It's hard to imagine we're not a top 25-caliber team; whether we are in fact top 10-15 remains to be seen.

And then when you demolish Oregon by six TDs in Autzen, that speaks volumes, even if Oregon is down.

Okay.  All the rankings...

Great to see our name there again, especially at #18, we got a little more cred with the writers than the coaches.

I want the Big Ten Title. Going to be tough to get this year, but better not count us out.

NW is biggest game for us in A LONG TIME.  BEAT NW!

I bet we win but either way it is not a big game.  It is Northwestern a middle of the road big ten team, in the middle of a season that has been written off by the same people who think this is a big game, not necessarily you.  If you are one of those the next game is the big game people so be it.  There is nothing to win or lose in this game, it is one game.

Anytime the #13 team plays the #18 team its a BIG game...We need this win to set up the MSU showdown for national hype and exposure..maybe Gameday is on the line too...Nobody here was thinking wed been in the conversations we are in right now..To keep that going we have to beat NW..its a HUGE game for Michigan  momentum wise

next season with road games at MSU and OSU. I think O'Korn will be a major upgrade to the QB enxt season and the D will still be great. Overall, I think we have a better chance to win the B1G this season. May be another good chance in 2018, though our O will be great and our D will be losing some great players to graduation.

It's just good to see Michigan in these rankings again, even though we'd like to see them higher. Good to be back from the land of the missing lost souls, which still includes Penn State, Texas, Wisconsin and Nebraska. There's also an interesting little battle going on for the non-P5 entry in the New Years Six Bowls: Toledo, Boise, Houston, and Memphis are all showing up at the bottom of these polls. I wonder if BYU runs the rest of the table they'll give it to them instead with that head to head Boise State win.

Forgot them. Yes them too. The AP, Coaches and Sagarin/etc. polls all have different Group of Five teams at the bottom. I hope they come up with a "Playoff" for that level as well. It would fun to have Toledo/Temple and Boise/Houston play and then have the "championship game" played as a noon game on New Year's Day. Why not?

Being ranked higher than Utah is a disgrace. Looks like holding on for dear life at home against Purdue (lost to Marshall and Bowling Green) impressed .

Remember in 2013 when Michigan was winning games but going the other way in the rankings? I'd go as far as to say its rather ominous.

I also remember in 2013, it was about 2 weeks before the MSU game that were headed for a world calss beat down to them. Two weeks to go, and ceartainly don't have that same feeling.

TCU played one decent team, Minnesota, and beat them by 6. Funny what happens to a high powered offense when you play a team that actually has a defense.

Baylor hasn't played anyone yet. The Big 12 is once again a fraud until proven otherwise.

LSU had trouble with EMU.

I think Utah is the best overall team in the country at this point.

that at this point there is a legit number one team. There hasn't been that one team that has just trounced everyone. Its shaping up to be a really interesting year

Get to the bye 6-1 with two big wins...and THEN start truly worrying about the polls.

It'll be at that time where we need every spot we can get.

But we need these two W's on the resume to truly feel like we deserve a seat back at the table we built. Don't even need to be blowouts. Just need W's. Get them - and we're back where we belong.

These next two weeks are put up or shut up time.

I think we should ranked ahead of Stanford and USC. Our 1 loss was to a higher ranked team by a smaller margin, and we have a common opponent that we beat more handily.

But the polls seldom make sense. USC was still ranked ahead of Stanford last week. That's obviously sound logic.

Utah has the 3rd most first place votes now.  The benefits of having a bye while a bunch of teams actually played and look like crap :)  Baylor 2nd with 10, Utah now has 7.
