Last play of the 2005 game? Chad Henne to Mario Manningham in the end zone giving Penn State its only loss of the year

The Daydrion Taylor hit on Bob Stephenson is arguably the most memorable play in the series.

The 2005 last second TD and the Alan Branch hit are both two of the most notable plays from this series, but since those are both in just about every Michigan hype video, we've all seen those plays a million times. I wanted to go with great plays that people probably hadn't seen as recently since, as I noted in the original post, it's not meant to be a top 10 video.

Also, Daydrion Taylor's hit on Bob Stephenson was pretty memorable.

but not exactly for the right reasons. That play ended both players careers. I know that it was a significant moment but I don't really see it as a highlight that I want to celebrate.

Yeah still gets put into ESPN highlight reels and everytime I think that's not something that should be glorified.

The Daydrion Taylor play is definitely at the top of the list of plays that I enjoy watching that I know I shouldn't be enjoying watching.

that hit was sick. Like not "sick" like the cool kids say (used to say?) but really actually sick. The intent was not that, both players made moves at the last second that took it from good hit on the sidelines to what it ended up being, but it is really an unnatural and unpleasant collision to watch.

It was one year later and he was featured on Big Ten Ticket. I know people may not want to watch the hit, but I found the segment interesting for a few reasons.
1. We get to hear a little bit from Daydrion regarding the hit.
2. It's another chance to see/hear from Bo!
3. Bo and Don Shane were discussing the incident while the national anthem was playing in the background. I just found it interesting considering the discussion going on today. Just interesting, no opinion on the matter.

Thanks for that video. I had never seen it before, and it's great to see that Taylor was not seriously damaged from the hit.
THe play was especially relevant at the time. We recall Michgan absolutely destroying Penn State that day, and this was so. However, that was the last play of the first quarter and Michigan was only up 10-0 at the time. This was Penn State's first first down, and I always felt like that hit, gruesome though it may have been, sent the message that they will not be coming easy.
Woodson scored to make it 17-0 soon after, and the rout was on.

I recall the game in the snow in, I think 1995, where mecurcy hayes (maybe?) got hit with a snowball in the endzone trying to catch a pass.

But PSU iced the game with a fake FG run for TD. I still remember sitting in South Quad with a bunch of guys all saying "watch for the fake." I would look for highlights of the fake, but that would probably lead me to a bunch of PSU humblebrag.

I like what you did. Reminded me of some other big plays I'd forgotten in this series - they tend to get lost in the shuffle with all the game-winning plays and huge hits.

Thanks for the great comment! Yeah, Henne to Manningham is definitely one of the 10 most memorable plays from this series, but it's in just about every Michigan hype video so we've all seen it a million times.
Since this isn't meant to be a top 10 video, I decided to go with other plays that people probably hadn't seen as recently.

That Wheatley run was such a moment. Michigan had been down 16-0, and that was the first drive of the 2nd half. He single-handedly changed the game, seemingly turning the entire Michigan team back on. They came back to take the lead before eventually losing. Still the best-played footabll game I've seen in person, even if the bad guys won.

the talent on both teams --- WOW. And both teams then played above their talent level. It wasn't a sloppy game at all. The setting was picture-perfect too (mid-October, Big House, both Top 5, perfect weather).
Like you - that game remains my gold standard in terms of a quality college football game.

...but my goodness, my memory had blanked out those atrocious blue on blue uniforms from 2014 (the Funchess TD catch). What was that?
Not as important as our QB and OL problems, but we have had some real misfires in uniformz the past 5 years.

are still not as bad as my memory of standing and pacing the whole game feeling like the win was necessary to become bowl eligible and "totally redeem the program" after the whole school protested the AD and left a concussed youth for canonfodder in front of an inept OL.
