Michigan MBB vs. KK Mega Bemax (Video)

Submitted by Skiptoomylou22 on

Dylan at UMHoops was kind enough to unlock these videos from an 81-73 loss to Serbian professional teamm KK Mega Bemax. This should tide us over until Saturday (unlikely). Enjoy.

Competition Caveats aside - I saw a few things from my very non-expert eyes after watching 2 quarters.

Starters looked pretty darn good, particularly on defense.

Offense looked disjointed at times - understandable I suppose given the loss of Maar and Wagner - I am not sure how much may have been the effect 24-second shot clock.

Davis looked serviceable to quite good.  A shame neither he nor Teske has a proven outside shot or a redshirt for Castleton would be a certainty.

Frosh - Johns was the first in but Iggy got the most time.  You could see the drop defensively between Johns and Livers imo.  Iggy seems super athletic but is a bit of a black hole on O.  Saw very little (any?) of the other Frosh in half 1.

Seem deeper at the 4-5 than guard currently.  Simpson, Matthews, and Poole got a lot of minutes with Brooks primary backup.  Didn’t see a lot of lineups with Iggy at the 3.

Poole looked pretty good to me - much better on defense but still trying to feel out his role as a leader on O  - dribble drive game seemed a bit tentative

Returning starters - all looked >= their performance from last year particularly on D.

2nd Half update - Seeing more of the “2-guard” lineup with Iggy, Livers/Johns, and  Teske/Davis.

Sorry for the run-on ... stuck in El Paso waiting for a flight for few more hours.

Pretty common phrase I thought....

Meaning —— If the ball goes in to Iggy....it ain’t comin’ back.  Aka he won’t be racking up huge assist numbers.

BTW - I am not saying this is a huge negative just that he needs to work on it.  I.e. Poole was much that way early last year.  Otherwise he looks like a shorter but more physical Mo on the court.

A sloppy 3rd quarter is where this game was lost but they played strong otherwise

Iggy prob was leading scorer for UofM - def wants to go to the hoop. Probably was top rebounder and looks to be a good rebounder.

Livers looked good. UofM came back in the 3rd quarter with Iggy - Livers both on the court.

Simpson, Mathews and Poole looked like they have picked right up from last year

Brooks looked better

Really going to miss Wagner - Teske and Davis struggled to finish around the basket. I thought Davis actually played the better game of the two.

Nuñez, DeJulius didn't get in
