Everyone Murders

I think the OP's phrasing (PHRASING!) implies that Michigan does not want Hackett to stay on.  According to the Detroit News article that is absolutely not the case.

Hackett will not be considered?  Technically true.  But Hackett won't be considered because he has notified the university that he does not intend to stay on.

Also, head over to the Detroit News article for the pictures.  The picture of Hackett wearing the letter jacket - could Hackett look more like Marlon Brando as Col. Walter Kurtz in Apocalypse Now?  With luck, he will conduct interviews in a darkened hut, and drop a model of Dave Brandon's severed head in candidates' laps to see how they react under pressure.

Guy loves Michigan, coaches and players love him, he could raise money, is loyal, is on the payroll already and most of all, won't be a coach!

What a great replacement for that dirtbag DB.  I'm so glad that we had Hackett when we did, and I wish he would stay on.  He's a great representative for UM.  I loved his comments on what makes a 'Michigan Man.'

Over the last year, Hackett oversaw Michigan's hiring of new football coach Jim Harbaugh, extended the contracts of men's basketball coach John Beilein and women's basketball coach Kim Barnes Arico, and helped negotiates an apparel contract with Nike contract worth upwards of $169 million over 15 years.

Even when he walks out the door that final time, we can say of Hackett, "Yeah, it was only for about a year, but it was one hell of a year."

Sounds like they are laying the foundation to make a good hire too.

Hackett will forever be a legend that never dies. I still can't believe what Hackett accomplished in a single calendar year. I will always be thankful for his negotiations with Harbaugh & Nike. Thank you Jim!!!!! You did more good in one year than Dave Brandon did in several.
