Wow, that was an informative article. There was a lot of new information Snyder brought out that I had no idea of. I would have been clueless if I hadn't read that article by Mark Snyder. It feels good to be fully informed about what is going on and the exciting things planned for this coming season.

both teams now get a bye in the exact middle of their schedules vs. late-September.  Have to think both coaches prefer that.

One odd thing: the game had been scheduled on October 15, and there were high-quality PSU @ U-M games played on the exact same date both 11 years prior and 22 years prior.

That fact also makes me feel old.

Prior to the B1G changing to a nine game conference schedule both teams had an OOC game scheduled that day.  When B1G did the initial conference schedule they just used the now vacated OOC date for the bye week for both UM and PSU.  Sometime last year they petitioned B1G to move the game up to the September date.

Why? Why does it have to be a special event? I'd like to see a couple or more night games every season. I will never understand this "night game at Michigan needs to be special" argument. We seem to be the only fanbase that thinks a night game has to be a special event.

Because playing a night game against a cream puff is a waste of a night game. Night games are an all day thing. And they're played to get the best atmosphere out of the crowd for tough opponents. We're not the only fanbase that thinks that. Really the only teams that play night games that aren't big matchups are in the south because it's so hot.

we've only had like 3 home night games in history with one max per year, right?  They're rare because the city and university don't like night games for safety and traffic reasons and it gets too cold late in the year for night games.  Since they're rare and likely to remain that way, they are special. Playing good teams for special games seems like a good time.

Plus, there does feel like a real atmosphere difference between a noon game and a night game in terms of crowd noise, etc.  If that provides a little extra home field advantage then you want it to be against a good opponent.

Games at night are just another time of the day and don't have to be against a good team.
Says the guy from Sydney (whom I assume does not actually attend games). For those who do attend games, night games mean some extra hassles (like driving home very late into the night or else getting a hotel), so yes, it's important that they are meaningful games, to make that worthwhile.

Hopefully the night game is against Hawaii. I'm too drunk by nighttime to remember the game. I know it wasn't at night but against MSU this year I became sober and aware of the game with about 2 minutes left. So that didn't end well. Although on the walk out of the stadium I had a very odd and happy appreciation for how far Harbuagh had already taken us, and how I know he will never stop until we are on top.

Maybe AFL and soccer games at night in Sydney are "just another time of day."  It doesn't work that way in Ann Arbor because of the Big House history of not having lights until 2010.  Only "big" games will be played at night in the Big House.

I'm seriously so glad to have Wisconsin back on the schedule. My old lady is a Sconnie alum and I very honestly miss being able to have that rivalry year in and year out...although holding '08 over her head this long has been fantastic.

That game was the my moment of clarity that RR wasn't going to work. Even tho I still believed he'd win B1G titles and have some great seasons. Michigan as a fanbase was/is never going to tolerate a system that fails to pay proper respect to your own end zone. Even if our O was matching them score for score in that game, a great majority of the M fanbase is never going to watch teams roll us down the field with pure physicality even if our lil smurfs are holding serve on O.

Not only do I miss the matchup, I miss the way we had their number.  Beating their Rose Bowl teams, making Ron Dayne a non-factor, making Barry Alvarez scream in disgust on the sidelines, (and him publicly stating that Bob Griese would probably give Brian all the notes from Wisconsin's practices), Hayden Epstein kicking the game winner at Camp Randall, A-Train driving through their defensive lines like it was butter, David Terrell breaking their hearts in the 4th quarter, etc.

It was great times.  Then when RichRod arrived, they could run 70 straight times up the middle and get about 10 yards every...single...time.  Screw that.
