Many people get way too caught up in the head to head argument, but it's just not always that simple when compiling a final poll ranking. If you go by head to head and put us ahead of PSU, then you would also have to place PSU ahead of OSU. Therefore, in order for us to be ahead of PSU, we would also have to be placed in front of OSU. Though wait a minute, OSU beat us head to head. I'm sure many people can understand what I'm talking about. I mean, head to head is useful sometimes when putting together a poll ranking, but it won't easily apply to all situations.

I disagree (about PSU, not about underperforming down the stretch).  If PSU plays OSU in Columbus do you think they win that game?  If we play PSU again do you think they beat us? Do you think PSU beats FSU?

Personally I think PSU got hot and we played some bad matchups for us down the stretch. McSorley is a very streaky QB.  I think head to head we beat them consistently because of the difference on lines and our DBs neutralize their strengths.  Does that mean we had the better season, no (but I think there's another argument for that).

Our only win out of the state of Michigan was Rutgers. Winning in Happy Valley would be a given though? Or playing them when they were healthy? Or once our offense went stagnant? And yeah, they got hot. We got cold. Since when to November games not mean more than September ones?

And we are talking about the difference between being 7th or 9th and being 10th in a stupid AP poll. Who cares? Complaining about it only makes us look whiney. We had the chance to do something about it. But we blew it. Repeatedly. In the fourth quarter. At the end of the year.

Let's move on and look to the bright future. Clinging to a September win is like clinging to a September Heisman.

The inconsistency around OSU is irritating.  It seems like bowls were important and OSU was destroyed, yet somehow ends up 6th.  It's all meaningless, though.  On to 2017!

as listed. However, I have no problem with the intent, that being, I believe, attempting to determine the strongest teams at season's end and in certain cases - USC being the most glaring - early season miscues have to be forgiven in order to make a reasonable guess at just who are the toughest outs as of today.

With the change of qb at USC, their entire team was transformed which is not that  unusual because both the D and O feed off one another. No, I don't believe they are the third best team in the nation, but they made an incredible turnaround. And, imo, their qb will, deservedly so, be a preseason AA next year. Really don't know if he was struggling early; therefore the decision to go with the incumbent early. But when I saw him play I knew I was watching one of the top 3, 4 qbs in the nation and the young man is just a freshman.

Using the same logic, despite our thrashing of PSU, they almost have to finish ranked higher than us, although like most here, I think we'd kick their ass again. Losing 3 out of the last 4 pretty much sealed our fate as to final rankings, but other than the almost unforgivable loss to IA, we played a damn fine game vs. OSU (controlled almost the entire game) but the L is still there and we came back strong vs. FSU, but again another damn L to a team that had been embarrassed on national t.v.

I can live with a finish in the top 10 though. It speaks as to the huge, huge improvement we've made in just two short seasons.

I guess I am just more confessed than ever at how they rank these. How is osu ahead of PSU still? They won h2h and lost by a last second fg to the number 3 team. While osu got destroyed. I mean, that is just the first example of the crazy was here. I just don't want to go over any more right now lol
