i remember sitting in the stands at michigan stadium when we were down 17 to virginia a few years ago.  there was a dude behind me bitching that we should just send out the baseball team instead and generally making an ass of himself.

i'm sure you guys would have been best buds.

smart / stupid has nothing to do with it.

bitching all the time - even after a big win (as in "they couldn't beat my high school team a few weeks ago") doesn't make you "honest" or "realistic." it just makes you a pain in the ass.

What kind of non-sense is that? In fact, the fans who were sick and tired of seeing this product look like dog shit are probably just as supportive, if not more than the fans who just blindly show up and don't have an opinion other than "go team!"

By the way, I'm curious how these new "Suck it Beilein crowd" will feel if this team gets bounced in the first round of the NCAAs.

Not really sure what you are looking for. Some vindication that you are suddenly right about Beilein? The team is still not nearly what we are hoping for after going to the Finals and the E8. They have a LONG way to go before they get to that level again.

my hope is that people realize how stupid they sounded for demanding Beilein be fired. also to stop calling for coaches to resign mid season. wait until the year is over and evaluate the full body of work. as for this team getting bounced, I wouldn't be upset. not sure if you can find my prediction before the season, but I said they would be one and done in the tourney. I didn't drink the Kool aid and the team is where I thought there would be: decent, hard working, but flawed. it was a fun year regardless.

Are those people stupid?

I don't agree with those who said he should re-sign midseason, nor did I say he should be fired mid-season. However, the team has been on a total downward/flat line trajectory since 2014. They aren't world beaters now. They are finally playing good basketball, but that doesn't forgive the fact they are still not near where they used to be.

And guess what, I HOPE he gets this team far because I'm a Michigan fan. But the people, like myself who were looking for a change were just making observations on the horrible product on the court the last few years.

But people like you are also quick to dismiss the catastrophic injuries UM has endured the past 3 years. UM like wins the title 3 years ago with mcgary. And how many wins did the levert injury cost them. Likely sweet 16 or better last year.

Great senior day. Amazing how Walton has turned it on this second half of the year. Not seeing the same complaints about Beilein and the team, which is a nice reprieve.

I had to watch most of the game from a restaurant as it is my wife's birthday, but yes, this is one of those very nice, very timely, and very helpful wins when it comes to resume and seeding, so what a nice start to everyone's now stress-free hoops evening.

Dude is just 110% effort.  Had as many rebounds as Swanigan and Haas combined!?  Mo's smooth 3s in the first half.  MAAR and Robinson SOLID.  Even X hitting that wide open 3 to go up 18 in the second half.  That was the ball game.  Man, it's fun to watch these guys play when they are on.  They have definitely hit their stride.  If you're playing against us and we are hitting 3s, it must be a helpless feeling.  Everytime Purdue would get a couple of baskets together, someone would swish a 3.

What a fun game to watch.  Ticket to Dance.  PUNCHED!

It could happen for sure, concede nothing, but the Sweet Sixteen seems to be a good goal for this team.  You play them one at a time, and if they get that far, they'll have a shot at the next one, but it is going to be against a good team, and it will not be a home game.

Great win today.  Keep improving. NW at their place will be tough, but we are due for a break after being jobbed at Minnesota.

Michigan has an amazing Sweet Sixteen history . . . once we get there we keep going.

We've been to 13 Sweet Sixteens, and gone on from there to the Elite Eight 12 times

Our Final Four record is just as good.  We've been to 7 Final Fours, and gone on to the National Championship 6 times.

Once we get on a roll, we get on a roll.

Very stressful when Purdue went on that 20-5 run. But extremely happy with the win! We have more than enough quality wins for the tournament. Win these last two road games and there should be no need to worry on Selection Sunday. I just wish we didn't look so barf worthy on the road.

Have we really looked that bad on the road?

  • Minnesota and Iowa were overtime losses, the former of which we would have won if not for the refs.
  • Wisconsin and MSU were hard fought, single digit losses where we had the lead at times, in 2 of the 3 toughest environments in the Big Ten.
  • UCLA is a legit top 5 team and we were tied at halftime (and lead for significant parts of the first half).

The only times we have actually looked bad on the road were at South Carolina (early in the season against a halfway decent team) and Illinois (unexplainable).

Our problem isn't that we play poorly on the road, it's that we can't finish close games.

BANG ME!  I get to go to work on Monday, look at the Purdue and Indiana coworkers, smile, and don't have to say a word. Not a word.

Oh my what a feeling!!!

Projected top 8 seeds via Bracket Matrix:

1s: Nova, Kansas, Gonzaga, UNC

2s: Baylor, Oregon, Louisville, Arizona.

I don't feel there's a huge difference between the two groups, to be honest.

3s: Florida, Kentucky, Duke, FSU

If we can get to six though, that's a big deal.

Somehow UCLA is a 4, which boggles my mind.

Going to be a great team next year assuming Wagner doesn't declare for whatever reason. simpson's going to be a better PG than walton, far quicker than him and can actually blow by his defender.

I often forget we have a former high school AA and 5 star In Charles Matthews ready for next year. Combine him with improving combo of Wagner and Wilson and you got a fairly scary Michigan team next year.

As for Simpson, will need to do alot to be compared this early to Waltons career.
