The B1G's highest seed being Purdue as a 4. But Minny as a 5 and Wiscy as an 8 seems exactly backwards to me.
The selection committee is led by Mark Hollis, so this is the most likely reason.

Northwestern & Wisconsin both as 8s is outrageous. Wisconsin was 2 games better in the regular season and just beat them in the tourney by 30...

Committee is a farce and picks seeding based on matchups and tries to engineer the brackets for interesting "rematches" (Michigan -Louisville) and getting its favored brands Duke, Kentucky in to favorable brackets and or high profile matchups.
Izzo and MSU should be at best playing the play in game...but "Mr. March" gets escorted in on brand name. BTW....What is 1 / 7....oh yeah, that's Izzo's championships over final 4 appearances. He really is Mr. March, because he's a big failure come championship weekend in April.
