They all play each other the next few weeks.  With 2 undefeateds and 2 1 loss teams though its going to be tough because you could have 1 undefeated and multiple 2 loss teams or a bunch of 1 loss teams.

The one that makes me laugh is ND if they get in, in the end.  They wont be playing for a conf championship and yet teams in the B12 got penalized last year for the same thing.

Clemson barring shock is in, and Bama barring disaster is in IMO.

ND is the pimple on everyone's ass if they beat Stanford as they will be 11-1 and not face a tough 13th game.  If they beat Stanford they will put them in for ratings meaning 2 conferences get screwed.

Of course not.  But he's saying that Baylor/TCU were penalized last year as one loss teams for not having a conference title game, and ND will likely be in the same spot if they beat Stanford - 1 loss, no conference title game.  And ND will have beaten all of one good team - Stanford.

If ND gets in over a comparable 1 loss team from the Big12 or for that matter say 12-1 Utah something is going to have to change.  The conferences won't put up with that for long.  ND might be good for ratings, but the Power 5 conferences control this thing.

Having said that I still like Baylor's odds to go undefeated.

No I am saying they punished B12 last year for not having a championship game to get the 12th win, but they have ND sitting pretty with 1 loss right now and with Tv they will kill to get them in with 1 loss.... and not playing a championship game.  You can see the hypocrisy from here.

TL;Dr - go Stanford!

The big 12 got penalized for having shitty OOC games. The 13th game gave everyone else one more quality win and quality wins was something seriously lacking from Baylor/TCU. Between them they had one halfway decent win and a bunch of patsies. If Baylor had played someone better than Northwestern State, the fact that everyone else played another game against a top team just exacerbated it.

Namely: Okie State loses to Baylor and OU, OU goes 2-1 against Baylor, TCU and Okie State, Baylor drops 2 against OU, Okie State, TCU and Texas, and TCU drops one more. All finish 10-2. I don't know if all that is mathematically possible, but I sure as hell hope so!

I hope so too.  Then just based on that we're probably sitting around 9ish for our matchup against OSU.  Win that and anything can happen, especially if the committee views our loss to MSU more favorably since it was a 1 in a billion fluke.

If we win out, that means we'd be ahead of Oklahoma, TCU and probably Oklahoma State.  And if we beat an undefeatead OSU, that means we'll be ahead of OSU, MSU and Iowa.  Based on our current CFP ranking, and not getting leapfrogged, we'd be #8 at worst.  Someone has to lose between Stanford and ND also.

It's not inconceivable to finsh #4 if we take care of business.

We dont want OU steamrolling people.  They have a blue blood brand and could beat Baylor TCU and OK State in final 3 - thhat would be two top 8 wins and #15....2 of them on the road.  That would push them past 11-1 ND.

I think Baylor just needs 1 loss but Id rather it be by OK State or TCU.  TCU would be best.  Baylor is not getting in with 1 loss due to SOS.  OU could get in with 1 loss with 3 very big wins to finish out the year.

Big 12 is so tricky

  • Baylor with 1 loss is out due to SOS
  • OSU with 1 loss is out due to SOS
  • Oklahoma with 1 loss is probably in at this point (they played TN out of conf and have the brand)
  • TCU with 1 loss is difficult to project - they at least went to MN on the road but I'd guess they don't get in

So any loss by Baylor or OK state is good - but you dont want 2 losses by either of those 2 because it means TCU and Oklahoma are winning.

Then Oklahoma needs to drop another game as 1 loss OK is all sorts of dangerous to get to CFP.

And of course none is wanted to run the table.

If OU beats Baylor this weekend I see the committe moving them to 5.  Maybe 4.  Then they have TCU and OK State still to stuff their resume.  They are the danger of that group if they all have 1 losses.

If we make the championship game we definitely want to face an undefeated Iowa. If they stay undefeated and we beat OSU, that would push Iowa into the top 4 going into that game, and a win for us would help a ton in the playoff conversation. We'd theoretically have two top-4 wins in a row at that point.

But I hope Sparty makes it a physical, angry game.  I think the only reason Sparty beat them in the B1G title game is because they left it all on the field to beat us the week before.  And we exposed their defense to be fraudulent as well so Sparty had a lot of game film to use.
