Michigan's Unsung Heroes - #umichstrength & #mgofuel

In recent years, when watching Alabama, the size dispartiy between Tide players and their opponents was apparent.  It looked like Alabama was almost an NFL team with respect to size and lean mass.

Michigan, especially this year, is visibly displaying this similar charateristic.  Looking back at the Florida game, it's very apparent the team has made significant strides in both strength and conditioning which only happens with a solid nutrition plan.

Michigan, like Alabama, benefits with potentially reduced injuries, ability to grind opponents down, a painful and bruising downhill run game and just simply overpowering opponents.

While not getting much in the way of mentions we should really acknowledge our secret weapons that, over time, is making our team eye poppingly superior to our victims, er, opponents.

just lost two players for the season in the first game... what was that about potentially reduced injuries?

Alabama coach Nick Saban confirmed Monday that Crimson Tide outside linebackers Christian Miller and Terrell Lewis both suffered season-ending injuries against Florida State on Saturday while also providing updates on the Tide's other injured players.

and for FSU too. Injuries happen, I remember Barwis saying they never had a major injury under his tenure, not sure about that. Even the Stanford S&C which is supposed to be the best, most revolutionary won't prevent injuries.

Some of my buddies that dont watch Michigan football as often as me chimed in this weekend and said the speed/athleticism/size difference between Michigan and Florida was noticable to the untrained eye

I thought so too, but there's really no way to tell how much of that is due to the natural size and athleticism of the players versus how much is due to strength and conditioning and nutrition. I still think Alabama's players looked bigger and stronger than everyone else's. They get bigger and stronger recruits, so again, there is no way to tell for sure.

Bama still looks that way compared to most teams, FSU and UM included. IMO it has less to do with what's happening in S&C and their nutrition and more to do with the DNA of elite talent. That in no way diminishes the value of a good S&C program. Guys like Hudson, DPJ, Samuels etc just have great DNA for that. The same goes for guys at Bama like Scarborough, Smith, etc. They all have elite body types. As Boobie Miles once said "It's God given."
