Michael Cox
Whats the deal? I thought there was a rumor that he was the most athletic RB on the team? Not that I bought it, I'm just saying. He's a big guy, that did not play last saturday. He looked solid the few times we have seen him run, and he has had a couple years to get in shape.
My prediction: He is the surprise X factor saturday. Rich Rod is keeping Kelly in the dark on this one. They expect slot ninja's, and it will take them off guard when Cox goes yards after contact crazy. Thoughts?

I hope your Rodruiguez-as-the-evil-magician theory is right.
September 9th, 2010 at 2:58 PM ^
Rich Rod has always seemed like a crafty little bastard at other schools. I think he knows that it's now or never. If it's not Cox, then I think he has something planned, at least.

I'm convinced RR is Keyser Soze.
BTW-That's a good thing IMO.

I will never neg you regardless of what you say based on ur avatar, but I did love the reference.

"I will never neg you regardless of what you say based on ur avatar..."
Then my plan is working.
muhaha...
"I +1ed you for educating me: I always just assumed it was "Kaiser" (as in German emperor). Now I
know, and knowing is half the battle."
Yeah, I Googled it years ago... May have even Yahoo'd(?) it.
Best movie ever.

Weird, I was thinking the same thing as I was scrolling down and hit your comment. Get outta my brain!!
September 9th, 2010 at 6:27 PM ^
My brother is thinking he'll play Forcier up, which will be the surprise. I laughed at him and put big money on it too.
September 9th, 2010 at 8:16 PM ^
The whole 'not a team player' thing is a ruse, sandbagged the spring game, and he's John Elway incarnate...starts against ND, with Denard in the slot.
September 9th, 2010 at 2:57 PM ^
I believe the latest word was ball security issues. I'm looking forward to seeing him on the field, but abiding by the MGoMaxim of HOLD ON TO THE DAMN BALL is first priority.
September 9th, 2010 at 2:59 PM ^
I did not hear this, and if he can't hang onto the ball, then by all means let him ride the bench all season.
September 9th, 2010 at 3:08 PM ^
I had read here somewhere that it had something to do with his tendancy to run east and west instead of north and south that caused him to fall behind the other two.
September 9th, 2010 at 3:43 PM ^
and RB preview. great physical talent, bad decision maker thus far.
September 9th, 2010 at 9:27 PM ^
You mean the spring game in which he was Michigan's best runner and scored on a 22-yard TD run?
September 9th, 2010 at 11:55 PM ^
So like, the spring game where he was the only back to do anything and averaged over 5 YPC?
September 9th, 2010 at 3:52 PM ^
and if the weathermen are correct (which who the hell knows), then that does not bode well for his playing time against the Irish.
September 9th, 2010 at 2:59 PM ^
Really?
September 9th, 2010 at 3:01 PM ^
Congrats on your 'fandom endurance.' That doesn't mean you don't have a stick up your ass.
GTF over it.
September 9th, 2010 at 3:03 PM ^
You know you can just edit the title, right?
September 9th, 2010 at 3:04 PM ^
sensitive much? Internet tip - next time, just play it off as a typo instead of being all offended at it...
September 9th, 2010 at 3:08 PM ^
There, edited.
I just can't stand it when people totally ignore the content of a topic, just so they can point out a spelling error and feel good about their 'literary prowess' on a god-damn football message board.
September 9th, 2010 at 3:16 PM ^
This isn't.

You're mentally handicapped, so you're allowed to nitpick.

Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.
September 9th, 2010 at 4:10 PM ^
I believe he was referring to his username, rather than taking a personal shot.

TIMMMAAY!
September 9th, 2010 at 3:02 PM ^
it took me years to spell "Michael" correctly. I mean, I used to confuse "Michael" and "Michelle". Then again, that was mostly because there was a girl in my second grade class named Michael, but I digress. Anyway, once I hit third grade, I had it all straight. Until I met that French boy named Michel. That was just downright confusing. And what's up with boys named Lindsay and Shannon and Sue?
Wait, what were we talking about again?
September 9th, 2010 at 3:06 PM ^
We would have been able to use puns that way...
September 9th, 2010 at 3:13 PM ^
on the same team. Announcers are going choke on those names!
September 9th, 2010 at 5:04 PM ^
That the title was informative despite the mispelling of the name.
OP, in the future, try to make the title something like "Cox soft on playing time", or "It seems hard for Cox to get in", or something along those lines so we know exactly what you are talking about.
September 9th, 2010 at 5:50 PM ^
- "Cox hit the hole hard"
- "Cox filled the gap"
- "that was quite a Cox block"
- "Cox got the DE to bite down hard"
- "the safety couldn't get his hands on Cox"
- "Cox stiffed him"
- "Cox was hard to bring down"
- "Michigan's Cox was more than ND could handle"
Infantile humor? Yes. But, you know you have already thought of 10 more of your own . . .
September 9th, 2010 at 8:18 PM ^
Cocks.
September 9th, 2010 at 2:59 PM ^
i could totally live with that if it's effective. we certainly do have the ability to keep almost any defense honest and unbalanced with our experienced OL and talent at slot ninja, WR, TE, and combo of small and big backs. oh yeah, and that denard guy...
September 9th, 2010 at 3:04 PM ^
Just as I am excited to see Micheal on the field this Saturday, I am equally excited about getting Fitz into the game. Fred Jackson said that Fitz was a bigger, faster version of Mike Hart. I know Jackson throws out superlatives like crazy but he obviously see's something that makes him believe this kid is special. I like having so many backs that are threats. It makes ND not be able to prepare for just one. And since Smith and Shaw got the majority of the work last week, the other 3 could pose big threats to the ND defense.
September 9th, 2010 at 3:12 PM ^
I forgot about him! I am pretty excited about his debut as well. That said, always take Fred Jacksons' complements with a grain of salt, as you mentioned.
September 9th, 2010 at 3:06 PM ^
does have a plan for wet Kentucky Blue grass, MC Hammer!
September 9th, 2010 at 3:07 PM ^
This makes as much as sense as RR not putting Tate in caue he was saving him for the Notre Dame to just have him throw every down catching everyone off guard. OR DOES IT?
September 9th, 2010 at 3:11 PM ^
But I think it's less of a stretch to suggest he might do this for one of the running backs.
September 9th, 2010 at 3:14 PM ^
He's probably not playing because he has a ton of mental errors:
Mike Cox continued to show that he might be the best athlete amongst the running backs, but on two separate instances he caused Rodriguez to "lose it" by cutting way back against the grain, turning a modest gain into nothing by dancing at the line of scrimmage. On one "there was a gap on the frontside but he cut all the way behind the backside tackle," losing yardage and causing RR to chew him out; on the second "RR just dropped his headset in disgust."
Being the most physical won't always make him the best option. He's got to be able to hit the right holes first before he can go RAGE on corners/tinypeople in the secondary.
September 9th, 2010 at 3:19 PM ^
Great info, that certainly clears it up.
You gotta hope he learns to hit the hole hard. (It's so hard not to make fun of his name.) I think eventually we are going to need a punishing runner in the big ten, as cliche as that is to say.
September 9th, 2010 at 3:46 PM ^
Stop it! I'm too juvenile to take many more of these!
September 9th, 2010 at 3:36 PM ^
This was Chris Perry until his senior year, let's just hope it doesn't take Mike that long and he can get it together this season.
September 9th, 2010 at 3:57 PM ^
I heard that Cox was the most physically gifted of the RB, but wasn't the sharpest tool in the tool shed. I believe even Roundtree called him out on it in the Countdown to Kickoff where he said something to the effect of he didn't know what was going on in Cox's head.
September 9th, 2010 at 3:50 PM ^
I'm not so sure that RR is planning to insert Cox into the game plan, but I am betting he does have a little "special sauce" for ND this Saturday.
September 9th, 2010 at 4:54 PM ^
RR is planning to insert Cox. . .he does have a little "special sauce" for ND this Saturday.
Gross.
September 9th, 2010 at 4:02 PM ^
Smith and Shaw are going to get majority of reps at RB until others improve their blocking game. If you can't pick up blitzes, your ass ain't playing.
