Michael Cox

Submitted by DharmaWarrior on

Whats the deal? I thought there was a rumor that he was the most athletic RB on the team? Not that I bought it, I'm just saying. He's a big guy, that did not play last saturday. He looked solid the few times we have seen him run, and he has had a couple years to get in shape.

My prediction: He is the surprise X factor saturday. Rich Rod is keeping Kelly in the dark on this one. They expect slot ninja's, and it will take them off guard when Cox goes yards after contact crazy. Thoughts?

"I will never neg you regardless of what you say based on ur avatar..."

Then my plan is working.

muhaha...

"I +1ed you for educating me: I always just assumed it was "Kaiser" (as in German emperor). Now I
know, and knowing is half the battle."

Yeah, I Googled it years ago... May have even Yahoo'd(?) it.

Best movie ever.

I believe the latest word was ball security issues.  I'm looking forward to seeing him on the field, but abiding by the MGoMaxim of HOLD ON TO THE DAMN BALL is first priority.

it took me years to spell "Michael" correctly.  I mean, I used to confuse "Michael" and "Michelle".  Then again, that was mostly because there was a girl in my second grade class named Michael, but I digress.  Anyway, once I hit third grade, I had it all straight.  Until I met that French boy named Michel.  That was just downright confusing.  And what's up with boys named Lindsay and Shannon and Sue?

Wait, what were we talking about again?

  • "Cox hit the hole hard"
  • "Cox filled the gap"
  • "that was quite a Cox block"
  • "Cox got the DE to bite down hard"
  • "the safety couldn't get his hands on Cox"
  • "Cox stiffed him"
  • "Cox was hard to bring down"
  • "Michigan's Cox was more than ND could handle"

Infantile humor?  Yes.  But, you know you have already thought of 10 more of your own . . .

i could totally live with that if it's effective.  we certainly do have the ability to keep almost any defense honest and unbalanced with our experienced OL and talent at slot ninja, WR, TE, and combo of small and big backs.  oh yeah, and that denard guy...

Just as I am excited to see Micheal on the field this Saturday, I am equally excited about getting Fitz into the game.  Fred Jackson said that Fitz was a bigger, faster version of Mike Hart.  I know Jackson throws out superlatives like crazy but he obviously see's something that makes him believe this kid is special.  I like having so many backs that are threats.  It makes ND not be able to prepare for just one.  And since Smith and Shaw got the majority of the work last week, the other 3 could pose big threats to the ND defense.

This makes as much as sense as RR not putting Tate in caue he was saving him for the Notre Dame to just have him throw every down catching everyone off guard.  OR DOES IT?

He's probably not playing because he has a ton of mental errors:

Mike Cox continued to show that he might be the best athlete amongst the running backs, but on two separate instances he caused Rodriguez to "lose it" by cutting way back against the grain, turning a modest gain into nothing by dancing at the line of scrimmage. On one "there was a gap on the frontside but he cut all the way behind the backside tackle," losing yardage and causing RR to chew him out; on the second "RR just dropped his headset in disgust."

Being the most physical won't always make him the best option. He's got to be able to hit the right holes first before he can go RAGE on corners/tinypeople in the secondary.

I heard that Cox was the most physically gifted of the RB, but wasn't the sharpest tool in the tool shed.  I believe even Roundtree called him out on it in the Countdown to Kickoff where he said something to the effect of he didn't know what was going on in Cox's head.

I'm not so sure that RR is planning to insert Cox into the game plan, but I am betting he does have a little "special sauce" for ND this Saturday.
