Mgovideo - From the film room with ex-Michigan linebacker Steve Morrison.

I found this to be enjoyable since I'm starved for contact.

Okay this is a good find thank you for sharing it...really enjoy listening to Steve Morrison the guy brings a great perspective.  Would love to see some UFRs by Brian in this format too.

I really liked the insight about the linebackers watching a pulling guard and sucking up thinking run because of it. I know about play action of course but I don't think I had ever been looking for the O-line to fool the defense like that.

Great content, thanks for posting. I kinda sorta wish they would do some of the bad plays too to tell us what went wrong. Pretty cool though in any case.

So lemme get this straight...LB's chase pulling guards except for when opposing coaches design plays to only make you think the ball is coming that way....
I'm at least 50% sure I might know exactly what to do in some instances. Maybe.
I would've been all conference. At flag football. Seriously. I was...FAST.

Watch the guards. However, must admit coaches are clever, always have been. There's usually a trick in the offensive playbook that will allow for a play to be run through the vacated spot caused by the guard and over agressive backer. That's why they tell you to play with your head on a swivel. Some people can be trapped and some can be taken out of the play all the time. Some just have fb instincts and recover and these are the type that get D1 offers. Me? Interest letters from Kzo College and the like. But I played and coached against both types. I preferred the former.

I think there are other keys you can read, like how a guy is standing in his stance pre-snap, and where the heads of the OL / QB go (up = pass, down = run, IIRC) that you're supposed to watch as well. But yeah, this is why Brian always says linebacking is HARD.

Down under the stands at the Toilet bowl (OSU) while we were getting a dog and drink we had an good talk He was very down to earth and when I told him He must be so proud of his son he took it in stride and didn't knock us over with any boisterous talk he was very cool. Oh we knew who he was because of the button on his jacket with a pic of Steve. Very nice man, oh did I say that, well he was. Another cool story bro we had a blast and we talk about those times like that I suppose to confirm some of them actually happened.

Steve is a great guy. I played grade school football with him (well, he played. I was on the team...), and then we went to different high schools. We weren't friends, but when I bumped into him in college and said howdy he remembered me and took some time to chat. Very nice, very down to earth.

The center missing the disguised LB blitz...that makes me nostalgic for some reason.  It's nice to enjoy cupcake moments on the right side of history.

I really look forward to these takes when the game is in doubt down to the wire.  I doubt they will ever reach the level of real critique wrt coaching... ever.  That is why I mgocruize into the night.

The level of football and commitment to excellence since Harbaugh has taken over almost makes me like Saturdays again.  I'm pretty sure soon I will be able to rewatch past seasons of which I have only post traumatic tremors of memory.
