MGoNightmare - 4/29/10 - VT 31 UM 19

Submitted by jtmc33 on April 29th, 2010 at 9:00 AM

Last night I had a dream/nightmare about Michigan Football.  It's April 29th... my brain has taken my obsession too far and it has led to a bad nights sleep.  The nightmare was that I was in Arizona, with tickets, but was watching the game on tv while waiting to leave for the game (that already started), then listening on the radio while going there, then realizing my ticket was at home.  I finished watching the game on tv.  But the game, too, was not a good experience:

Please Note:  a)  This is not a prediction... merely insight into my obsession with UM football; and b)  I have never had ESP... so, sorry (or, you're welcome).

Game highlights:

-UM was wearing blue - in Arizona - against Virginia Tech.  Keith Jackson was commentating

-Denard was the qb -- he would run first, think about throwing second.  His #1 receiver was Martell Webb 8-10 yards out over the middle.  Otherwise, the offense was the Denard show... and it didn't work

-UM's only TD was Denard running 40

-Hemmingway was injured in the 1st -- Stonum and Stokes were "playing" WR and not thrown to

-Tate had packages where he would come in to throw incompletions.  Announcers were all over his lack of production

-A walk-on kicker made a 52-yard fg right before half

-The running game consisted of Denard/Tate handing off to Touisaint in the option and getting tackled at the line.

-UM lost possession with 3 minutes left, down 12, after Denard tried running for the 4th and long.

Yes, my dream was this vivid.

Things I can't tell you because my brain would not let me see:  Not sure who started at LT; know nothing of the defense except Mouton was defensive MVP; not sure if Dorsey was playing, dressed, or in J.C. in Kansas.

Worst part about the dream was waking up and feeling like I had just lived through the last three hours of stress --- bad night's sleep.

Am I the only one dreaming about UM football?  Do they win at least?

That's a rather vivid nightmare.  My dreams would go something more like.

Denard's passing but the receivers aren't catching, so he looks to me in the crowd, throws me a rocket, but I drop the ball.  Everyone hates me, but I try to make everyone understand, I'm out of bounds.  No one cares, I become a Bartman.

Does that make any sense? Exactly, but that's how my nightmares work.

VT lost a little off the lines and a great LB in Grimm, but the offense should kick some ass this year: Tyrod in his senior year, more experience at WR and two flat-out stud RBs.

If they can beat Boise State early, the schedule sets up well.  GT at home on a Thursday night (= visitor death), with only Miami away as a challenge to finish out the season.

Fear the Gobbler.

My dream I had was totally opposite...though maybe a little more weird

Our team had a "swag" that was amplified beyond measure.  We were in our home jerseys and our offense was explosive.  In the dream, our opponent (don't know who it was) could not keep up with us at all.  It was a short dream that had only one play, so I'll describe the play.

I was in the endzone and I could see the play begin on the other side of the a literal blink of an eye I could see about 7 offensive players (we were on offense) coming straight towards me.  They crossed the endzone together for a touchdown and that's when I noticed that these kids weren't even wearing helmets.  Of course, that was the weird part.

I only remember Odoms and Koger, but no one was tired and had a look of "let's take it to these bums".  This is what happens when you mix Michigan Football obsession with late night entrees.

I had a dream once that we were playing Ohio State and I was the only one with binoculars.  This is important as I was the only one able to notice that the refs were former OSU players.  I tried telling people but they didn't believe me.  Michigan was called for holding on every touchdown they scored.  Using this as more evidence, the crown kept chanting "ass-hole, ass-hole" and one guy said that the NCAA mandated that all refs are robots and never made mistakes.  I saw through it all but awoke before I could expose this treachery.

but just as awful.  I had a dream a week ago that Michigan lost the opener to UConn by a score of 52-0.  I woke up feeling awful.  A couple days later when I told me girlfriend about it, she was less than impressed that I'm having nightmares about a college football game.  We've been dating for less than 6 months.  Perhaps it's still to early to disclose my obsessions to her...

The only time that I ever dreamt about Michigan football was during the week leading up to the 2006 game with Ohio State.  The buildup to that game was incredible and it was one of the two or three biggest games in the program's history.

In one I was the left tackle as "we" played ND.  I blocked the DE (running and pushing him back) from the 40 yard line into the endzone while continuing to repeat the phrase "What's up bitch?  What's up bitch?"  speaking very fast.  While I did this, John Navarre scrambled the 40 yards behind my blocking into the endzone.  WTF?

Pretty much all the others involved having tickets but not being able to get to the game except one other.  I was playing corner for Michigan and the opponent was Florida State at the Big House in a night game.  I had 2 interceptions.  Best. Dream. Ever.

a dream that I was eating a large marshmallow.

When I woke up, my pillow was gone.  And there was a dead hooker in the corner.

These dreams are all pretty rough.  I had a dream two nights ago that my younger sister was selling cocaine throughout college and my parents and I were trying to convince her that it's a bad idea.  This has/had no basis in real life, but let's just say I woke up in quite an unrested state.  And no, I don't think my sister is actually selling coke.

The other night I had a dream that Denard was spending all his time doing pole vault instead of football and wouldn't be returning this fall.  Details are really foggy at this point but  I know woke up thinking there was something seriously wrong with me.  There probably is but I think I am also obssessed with M football.  This is certainly not the only one of these I've had of late but thankfully I usually forget dreams pretty quickly.  The husband just laughs.

You're not the only one.  A month or so ago, I had a dream that I was coaching the Michigan basketball team and I was trying to talk Manny into staying.

I've definitely had some of those really intense dreams where you wake up and you feel like you haven't slept at all and are actually worked up about it.  LOL.  Anyway, just wanted to let you know that you're not alone in having those kinds of dreams.

I once had a dream that I was a contestant on the old Nickelodeon game show "Legends of the Hidden Temple". I was a member of the Orange Iguanas and was doing the challenge where you have to swim across this swampy water to your partner on the other side. Except I had probably 7-8 teammates while the other teams only had one. I remember swimming underwater and unbenounced to anyone but me there was a swamp monster chasing me which was not part of the show. I swam as my entourage encouraged me and made it to the other side. The weird part is that during the time I was underwater I had actually transformed into a gigantic M&M chocolate chip cookie. Nonetheless my team was very proud of me and treated me as one of their own. Then I woke up ...

After the 1980 Michigan/Notre Dame game.

(The Hell with Notre Dame!)

You remember the one - ND's kicker hit a 51 yarder when the wind suddenly died to win the game.  After the game we were at a party and EVERYONE there was Catholic.  They falling all over themselves calling it a miracle and how God loved Notre Dame.

I wanted to barf.

But I left instead.

My dream that night was me going from Catholic Church to Catholic Church (I'm not Catholic) and sitting through confessions with priests - and they were telling me that I could not be anything but a Notre Dame fan if I ever wanted to go to heaven.  They painted vivid pictures of what hell would be... the whole guilt trip.  Wanted me to do Hail Marys (NOT Hail to the Victors)...

Weird dream - but, I woke up still a Michigan fan.  And I still cannot stand Notre Dame.

I had a dream I was Denard Robinson.  I was late for class.  So I ran as fast as I could.  Instead of being late, I arrived two days early.
