Because we are a fickle fan base with many options for our coverage.

I knew it was going to be a video when he tweeted the tease out earlier, thought it was a dumb idea then, and still think it was a dumb idea.

Fishaw is trying to start up and maintain a site of his own and just learned a very valuable (and probably painful) lesson: don't antagonize your fanbase. Teasing "breaking the Internet" 48 hours before signing day when news and rumors are running rampant and then delivering a C- level hype video (I made it 60s in before I got bored and gave up) is a terrible idea.

Just remains to be seen how much damage it does to his reputation.

I showed it to my girlfriend who had no dog in the overhype fight, and after about 30 seconds, her reaction was "Oh, God. How long is this?" That about sums it up. For what it's worth, she has a television production degree, and was very critical of the quality of the video. Very embarrassing for MGoFish, this will always be a punchline when his name comes up. If he just would have released it without talking it up, I'm sure that a decent number of people would have liked it, and he would have saved himself a lot of flack and embarrassment. For what it's worth, I didn't think it was awful, but it wasn't good, either.

Hyping it up was the mistake, but I thought the video was good. My girlfriend would probably say the same thing as yours but she's not a crazy Michigan fan like most people on this blog. Something tells me that a lot of people here would think the video was pretty awesome if it wasn't for the initial tweet and snark about it in this thread.

Seriously, MGoFish is a freaking joke. Talk about lack of judgement. "Hey, let's tweet out to an unstable fan base two days before Signing Day that the Internet might break and then reveal a hype video that looks like it was the project of a 'multi-media class" at the local Community College"

Yes, he broke that adage in a big way tonight. But holy smokes, does it make sense to filet the guy for it? He's a good recruiting reporter who I believe brings value to the community. This was an error in judgment on his part and the timing wasn't great. But everyone - chill the hell out a bit.

A hype video. A fucking hype video. I went to Twitter for, like, the 3rd time in my life for a HYPE VIDEO??? Someone needs to gut, filet and deep fry MGoFish.

#CatFishaw'd

or as us older folk might say 'RickRoll'd"

Think the dude understated the demand for recruiting news and how people are quite literal.  Also maybe he saw the attention his buddy at MaizneNBrew got for the silent commit thing and he tried to piggyback.

This will now hang around as a meme for him as a scarlet letter - one day he will have actual news and it will be "boy cry wolf" syndrome.

If you're going to do this, why not wait until after signing day so you can have the correct recruits in the video? This is so stupid, he deserves all the shit he gets for it.
