Mgoblue and Arby's subliminal "Go Big Blue"
I was searching around MGoBlue.com today when the ad at the top caught my eye. At first glimpse, I thought the sign read "GO BIG BLUE." I feel like this ad is somehow the subliminal cause to the "Big Blue" craze and not Lee Corso. I would suggest a boycott of Arby's for creating the ad, but I think the Simpsons has already created that with the "I'm so hungry I could eat at Arby's" line that will live forever.
Or perhaps I should just avoid the field hockey page.August 8th, 2009 at 11:59 PM ^
Kentucky is Big Blue. How come people do not know that we are not?

because big blue is not a trademark and if you google it comes up "go big blue michigan" and "go big blue cats" and "go big blue giants"
I could care less. theres even a book about michigan that somebody wrote called "go big blue: the michigan wolverines story"
http://www.worldcat.org/wcpa/servlet/DCARead?standardNo=0886829798&stan… Thats the cover
just like nebraska, wisconsin, and cornell are "big red", michigan, kentucky, and new york giants are big blue.

I'll let them call Michigan whatever they want if they're going to give me free season tickets...
Go Big Blue came about because we have lots of alumni on the East Coast. "Go Blue" has become mixed with "Big Blue", the Giants preferred nickname, in most people out East's minds. Considering the East Coast media bias, it's not surprising that it's gained some traction. This is the same root cause as the "Blue and gold" meme that, thankfully, has lost ground lately.
And Arby's is the best fast food place bar none.
I'd put their curly fries in the top 2 along with KFC's steak fries...
It's only on the west coast I think but 'In N Out Burger' gets my vote for best fast food

In N Out Burger has transcended the 'fast food' label. Two double-doubles, animal style fries and a coke float is simply not equal to whatever the best meal at wack arnolds, burger king or wendys.

Those are good burgers, Walter.

Chick Fil A!!!
I don't think it originated from our fanbase. I think it's more likely that members of the media, who used "Big" to describe other teams, just assumed that it applied to us, too.

I don't think Corso is a Giants fan. We also have a lot of alumni employed by IBM.

Corso hears something, likes it and uses it on the air. He didn't invent the phrase, I'd bet anything he picked it up in Bristol.

have disappeared to?
But give me Jack in the Box any day. Too bad we don't have them this far east.
