MGOBLOG Banner

Submitted by BlueLotCrew on

I am hereby recommending a change in the MGoBanner at the top of this page to reflect the success of the Men's Basketball Program and I present this proposal based on the following...

1) Hoke Springs Eternal was perfect for last year, as he was hired in January and the Spring marked the period that he galvanized the fan base as well as started building his program.  As long as we all agree that Hoke (or hope) springs eternal, there is no need for it to spring further since eternity is forever.

2) The football program went through a 4 year period of turbulence (starting with "The Horror" and ending with Josh Groban), followed by a return to glory in 2011.  We are simply past the whole "New Hope" thing.

3) John Beilein has just done 3 amazing things tonight... A) Kept UM in contention for a B16 title. B) Snapped a 13 game, 17 year losing streak at Illinois. C) Ended Bruce Webber's career.

4) Football season is many months away, let's celebrate some Hoops and pay tribute with a new banner.  The resurrection of this program under Beilein deserves a banner... at least... if not a medal.

Please support this petition and call upon fellow MGoArtists to come up with the next graphic to celebrate Michigan Athletics.

HAIL!

I'm not troubled by the self upvote because it would appear that you're supporting your advocacy for your own idea.

On second look, that doesn't make sense.  I'm troubled by the self upvote.

Why ruin otherwise reasonable content?

He's a well known troll. Look at his posts regarding hockey and the non-revenue sports, the marching band, and his general attitude towards things Michigan fans hold dear.

Edit: and now four times more people have upvoted a thread by a pretty well known troll than upvoted CenterIce's front-paged diary, and twice as many as upvoted Tom From AA's user created HoF candidate list. Glad we have our priorities in order, people.

It means you made a post that was nice about basketball when it was the only post-game thread. Take a look at your comments, there aren't people on the board who want you here beyond your stupid pandering.

Were any of those posts not deserving based on content? And has the content BlueLotCrew provided in this thread been good to the extent that it outweighs anything else he posted?

When a poster gets to the point of trolling repeatedly, I don't care if he posted a semi-popular thread; it's not enough to outweight past transgressions. If you prefer, I'll say I negged him over what BISB warned him over, would that make you happier? It's the same result either way.

BISB warned him over what you goaded him into. He posted something worthwhile, and you derailed the thread to get all your e-friends to be mean to him. Any 12 year old would lash out in that situation. I mean, if he's intentionally trolling, it's not worth the time. If he's not, it's cruel. Just leave him alone.

Given some of his past posts, I could never plus user BlueLotCrew. Me negging the post has nothing to do with my support of the basketball team, which I am very proud of and cannot wait to cheer on in their quest to win the BTC and beat PSU on Sunday.

That, and he upvoted his own post, which I will never have any reaction other than to neg. That's just pathetic.

The current banner has gone up we have dominated recruiting had a great football season and now having a great basketball season. Let's not jinx it I say leave it up at least until the basketball season is complete.

I am in support of this (though, as many others have mentioned, it doesn't matter what I think).  A post-BTT, or hell pre-BTT if stars align Sunday, Basketball-themed Banner would be a great way to head into March Madness for the blog.  (Just a menial idea/suggestion)

Eh, I honestly think our current banner is amazing. Not only is it a great tagline, but the graphic itself is awesome, and much better than anything users have been able to come up with in past banner contests. I would like to see it stay until it needs to go for some reason/something awesome comes around. Just my 2 cents.

I do revel in the current banner, but as this has been an excellent basketball season, I would definitely be supportive of a banner which would include support of our basketball team through the B1G Tournament and March Madness. I don't know about the football presence going away completely  - that is by far the most extensively covered sport here, so it's seems central to the site's very identity, but I would be willing to look at specific designs.

Perhaps someone could come up with designs - multi-sport, competely hoops, etc... - for review by the group?

Look at all the support I'm getting with this post. Are you going to be able to sleep tonight?  BTW, thanks for reposting my thoughts on Baseball and Hockey, I'm glad you take the time to read my insightful and spot-on commentary.  If College gameday ever does a broadcast from a hockey arena or a baseball field, I will take back everything I said about those sports.  Until then, that should tell you all you need to know about their importance to the sports hierarchy.  I don't hate them, in fact, I played baseball for many years. They just don't matter and fewer and fewer people care about them every season.  If this hurts your feelings, maybe it's time to turn off the computer and move on.  If I'm not allowed to have an opinion about them, or the band, or anything else that you are fond of, well... that's a YOU problem.

Given your karma value and how every post of yours on this thread is negged, no I'm not mad. I'm amused that you exposed yourself to the rest of the MGoCommunity, and I'm fairly confident you will be banned within the next hour or two.

One of the advantages of knowing the rules is knowing not to "not threaten" other posters. That's generally a no-no around here. Enjoy your last hour or so here.

I thought I needed to tread delicately at first, given the tenor of the first posts. As for now, we're past that; I'm just waiting for the banhammer to fall soon, especially given his comments in this thread.

Mgrowold and others with support, thanks, I appreciate the kind words. This isn't about me, though. I just want this place to be as great as it can be, and I thought people should be aware of who, exactly, they were supporting.

I've never noticed him before, and the only thing he's done in this thread is call you names that appear to apply because you're being a total dick to him and said something annoying (but far from banworthy) about Roundtree. Virtually all of your comments are off-topic, and the only reason they're moderated up is because a bunch of people are joining you in bullying the guy. If you weren't going so far out of your way to be a dick to him, his stupid comments would get collapsed and nobody would notice the dumb stuff.

Look a little further, I'm not the only person saying these things, possibly because other people do remember his previous posting habits. I posted a few of his prior remarks if you're interested.

This is the last of my posts on this thread, barring something extreme. I've said what I have to say, and don't regret any of it, whether you would call it bullying and off topic or not.

Sorry, but plenty of hockey rinks have more character than basketball arenas. Yost isn't the only one. The problem with hockey is that outside of the northeast and the Midwest, schools usually don't have it. That being said, its value isn't diminished. Just accept its popularity on this blog.

"Look at all the support I'm getting with this post."

You personally didn't - nor will you likely ever, given your behavior in this thread and others - get any support. You simply stumbled upon an idea which actually isn't all that bad in the opinion of some. Even trolls can have a decent idea occasionally.

do not matter at all, and even if you did, hockey would still be relevant. Your comments and drivel are meaningless when it comes to rating collegiate athletics. You could be dead in 20 years anyway, and might even be a drain on government resources. EFF YOU!

But seriously. If you honestly think less people care about hockey every year, when in fact they've been kicking basketball's ASS in accomplishments, attendance, and recruitment since that big stain known as Ed Martin, that's definitely a YOU problem. Yes, college hockey is by nature smaller than college basketball as a function of having less D1 programs, but it is certainly not on the decline as you claim. In fact, Penn State has just bumped their program to D1 to help form the B1G Hockey Conference, which will only help college hockey because of the TV deals with the BTN. But whatever, it's only costing me my money to go to all our championships.

You're right.  How silly of me to base my opinion of someone on almost two years of reading their thoughts and opinions and coming to the conclusion that they are a person that generally doesn't generally make overtly negative comments on other posters.  As a matter of fact I dont remember Justin EVER going as strongly negative on anyone as he has in this thread against your past comments.

Candidly if Justin told me to "jump off a bridge" my guess would be it was because he saw a reason to do so that was probably in my best interest.

It's Weber. And his career isn't over, he'll go to some mid major or Pac12 school and probably do well. And even if his career did end, that's amazing to you? John Beilein wouldn't think so.
