fact: her tweets kinda make her sound like an idiot.

disclaimer following the krikor situation: I do not know her personally. I have no idea if she is an idiot or not. Hell, she could be a Rhodes scholar for all I know (okay, unlikely). I am basing this comment solely on my perception of her through a single medium.

In The Untouchables he says, "If you want to keep a secret, don't tell the boss." In the age of Twitter and Facebook, it's also, "Don't tell your kids." Whatever he decides, it's not likely his daughters will be the first to know.

I mean obviously he would discuss it with them if and when it became a viable option, but the job isn't even open yet. There's absolutely no sense in discussing anything with your family at this point. I'm sure he also hasn't explicitly told his daughter that he isn't taking the job. Especially since she's a freshman in college and has her own life. Most parents don't call college-age children to discuss pre-emptive theoretical life decisions.

Again, It's pretty delusional for a big time coach to want to go to a program that’s about to get the smack down. Five years from now I could see Urban taking the reins at OSU.

Fearless prediction: JT steps down after this season and Luke Fickell takes them through the lean years.

If Tressel stays, the program will likely be penalized but since the violations are solely centered on Tressel, if he was fired and/or resigned, the program would likely not receive any punishment beyond vacated wins/probation. If there is a job to be had in 2012, there won't be substantial program hindering limitations from the NCAA.

I don't think Meyer goes to tsio....not immediately, anyway. IF the Vest coaches out this season and then decides to retire, I could see Urban getting back in the game for the 2012 season.

Now that I think about....I get the feeling Tressel will make 2011 his last year. He'll come to a private agreement with the school (who will inform the NCAA) and at some point he'll publicly say, "I got to see this group of seniors graduate and now it's time to retire. I've been doing this a long time and I want to spend time with my wife and grandkids. I love Ohio State and am a Buckeye for Life."

Lock it.

That would be extremely aggravating if that's all that happens to OSU/Tressel. After the nonsense we got with stretching-gate, they deserve to get hit with a much bigger hammer.

Still, I wouldn't be shocked if they managed to find a way to get much less than what they have coming to them. It's pretty clear that integrity is not their first concern here...

He'd have to think long and hard—and really need the money—to subject his family to the truck driving snake pit that is Columbus.

Meyer is the "Jon Gruden" Candidate for OSU.

Extremely gullible fans believe there's a chance, but that's because they're extremely gullible.

I hope he doesn't take the job. I kind of like Urban Meyer. I want to hate the living hell out of the next coach. Maybe it's just me but I've never really hated Tressel and that has always got on my nerves.

Anyone consider that maybe, just maybe, Meyer isn't lying? He said he retired for health reasons. That seems likley to be true since he had a great coaching job in place that is both warm and loaded with football talent. So, let's just say that a doctor told him that he 1) had a health condition and 2) the stress of his job was going to kill him. This would be something would keep him from coaching and that his daughter would know about.

Besides, his current job is pretty nice. ABC flies him to New York (or to the site of a bowl game) for the weekend to spend the whole day talking about college football. There is no pressure of any kind and, he gets paid. The only problem I can see is that he has to spend a college football saturday not driking beer. He is probably back home in time for lunch on Sunday. Why would he give that up to move to Ohio and literally kill himself?

He's not lying because there is no job to take. Jim Tressel is the coach at Ohio State. Urban Meyer is well versed in coach speak and he would never lobby for a job someone he knows personally currently holds. This isn't Saban saying "he isn't coaching at Alabama" when he was 48 hours from coaching at Alabama. The Ohio State head job might not be open for 4 months, 8 months, might not be open for 2 years, who knows. No major candidate would advicate for taking it prior to actually being available though, that you can be sure.

The first time he "retired," he told his family he wasn't coming back. We all know how that worked out. It is TSIO wishful thinking that he changes his mind again if offered. It is his family's wishful thinking that he won't ever get back into coaching. However, the only thinking that really matters is Urban Meyer's thinking, and none of us can say with certainty either way.

I am fully convinced that Meyer would take the job if TSIO made him a ridiculously lucrative offer. Others are fully convinced that he wouldn't. I hope Meyer has a career at ESPN that is as long and fruitful as that of Dick Vitale, but the old saw still applies: never say never.

I agree that this is speculation about a guy whom none of us have ever met. But, its the off season and this is the internet.

I actaully think the fact that Meyer came back once before makes it less likley he goes to OSU now. He ignored the medical advice once before to stay at Florida. It think it is reasonable to assume that the medical infromation must have been even more compelling to make him walk away.

I agree with fannman. The pressure at osu to follow up what tressel has accomplished will b enormous for anyone. Throw in the ncaa mess and the fact tht there fans are never satisfied.....and tht the town sucks and so does everything about them. Hes not going. (And yes if i tell myself these things over and over i will eventually believe myself)

during Meyer's tenure in Florida he led the nation in player arrests. Yes, even more than MSU! I understand OSU is corrupt from the President, to the AD, to Tre$$ell, but would they hire a guy with so much history involving law-enforcement-interface-with-players? I don't know about that. Well...on second thought, of course they would.
