Contrary to the post from the idiot OP from earlier.

If you're checking the Reddit r/CFB Urban Meyer/lunch discussion thread, sorry to burst your bubble.

One reason why this is so stupid is that this is one of the best days of all time for a bad news dump --whether they are firing him or, more likely, doing close to nothing. It will get buried behind the Trump stuff. I don't see how you don't release news ASAP amidst everything else going on.

True.  So here it is:  I was the one who threw up in the shower on 1st Michigan in october of 97.  I also took the last beer from the fridge on Cross Street in spring of 98.  I locked myself out of the house the following fall and peed off the porch on my housemate’s car because he refused to clean his hair out of the drain.  By fall of 2000, I was regularly sneaking out of Martha Cook in the early AM so my girlfriend didn’t get in trouble.

I'm struggling to read the tea leaves on this one.......

Maybe Meyer is fighting a suspension?

Or the feel that by adjourning too early would disrespect the true victim

Well, if all eight BoTrustee members have to fellate Meyer to climax as part of the decision, keep in mind that he's in his fifties so that process might take more than one work day.

From Tim May of the Columbus Dispatch: An Ohio State spokesman just came out told us this could go on for while, and no promise decision will be revealed today. Oh, and that they ordered pizza for the media.

Committee: Urban, we are going to suspend you for three games.

Urban: I am not accepting a suspension, reinstate me immediately or fire me.

Committee: Let's order pizza for the media.

I actually believe that is exactly what is happening (cept for the pizza part).  I think OSU wants Meyer to take a short suspension as a way of appeasing the media and others in regards to the DV issue and Meyer is having none of it.

I think you've absolutely nailed it.

Something is going down in that committee room ... an ultimatum from Meyer demanding all this "baloney" be dropped or pay me $38MM ... would be in-character for that dirtball.  Money talks and it just might sway the BoT and President to capitulate.

Suspensions ?  again ... he either did 1) nothing wrong (so why any suspension) or 2) he lied to cover his "buddy", who he knew was a pervert and a wife beater in Florida and brought with him to ohio because a) he was a good coach, or b) he still had to lie and continue to cover for his acts in Florida - only to discover that the same guy was still a maggot in Columbus.

The ONLY hope is that the President of the University could be making it a "me vs him" decision.  If the Board keeps Meyer and the President quits ... then ohio simply stays ohio and keeps pretending that they care about it's educational role vs winning football games.

Or maybe the BofT will just require that Meyer always wears a vest on the sidelines.

man, you would think the BoT would review the report and all of its findings before bringing in meyer.  imo, if they were going to fire him, it would take a while to prepare their own report on why they would fire him for cause and the support for it.  so, unfortunately, meyer is for sure staying and the punishment is missing the two weeks of practice.

This is a very smart move on Urban's part if true. It was probably some type of mandate from OSU nepotism that prevented him from disciplining Zach Smith, and by giving Urban a suspension OSU would basically be making him the fall guy. He would be coaching this season under a cloud of uncertainty, and would attach this domestic violence charge to him instead of the school(which he doesn't want in this current environment).

Urban probably showed up today and told them to fire him, and there will be a delay while they negotiate his buyout.

Urban would have his pick of about 20 jobs after this season regardless, including schools in the SEC that will fire their coach specifically to hire him.

What Urban doesn't want is something saying that he condoned Domestic Violence specifically attached to his name without receiving a buyout for termination. This would give him 9ish months to rehabilitate his own image(and a ton of cash) while he negotiates his next job.

If Urban allows them to suspend him, that basically gives OSU the leverage to make him their coach for life. As a guy who is 100% selfish(and I'm speaking as someone who is this same way), Urban would never give them that type of power.

Yup.   If his contract stipulates he notify his supervisor in DV cases and he did that then he shouldnt accept a suspension - no matter how much good PR it will give OSU.

I think they assumed he would go along with the apology, two game suspension (reduced for time served) and then they would simply ride out the next 3-4 days of teeth knashing in the media.  But if Meyer told them to shove it - reinstate me or fire me - they have a pretty big problem on their hands.

"If his contract stipulates he notify his supervisor in DV cases and he did that then he shouldnt accept a suspension"

He can't get away with notifying his superior.  He is a mandatory reporter and has to report to the Title IX coordinator or assistant.

He gone.  The delay is just to determine the conditions of his departure.  The BoT would like him to resign, and he won't do it.
