That was the weirdest diatribe ever on Yost's part. The only way his initial reaction makes sense is if he didn't think UMbig11 was a legitimate insider (which he can be completely forgiven for) but after everyone basically said "nah, this dude's legit" he completely changed his tune to complaining about HOW the info was presented. Which is just... stupid.

No need to rehash...but if you see the very first post, you know that isn't true.

Plus Brian had already confirmed him before I even got to the thread and had like 30 votes that were hard to miss.

It was always about how it was presented. I simply didn't like the keys to the car thing and other parts of the post. I felt that if you have breaking news...present it as such. Not in a manner where if you're wrong, you can just quit posting and make another username and be forgetting.

People who aren't professional writers do it all the time when presenting inside info...and what made it more frustrating is the OP has done it in the past when presenting inside info. But this came across to me as that Ace Williams/Combat Strike (or whatever the video game is) type of post. I don't think there's a perfect way to present...I just think it could've been presented a lot better when you're literally talking about a NATIONAL news story.

IMO, the OP could've kept all sources secret and still prevented multiple people from thinking it was fake. Hell, the very first post in the thread is "link?"

You don't have to agree, sounds like most people don't...just sharing what I was talking about is all.

lol I just started this with "no need to rehash"...then I rehased.

Aren't most posts on this website (and the internet in general) either bland "I agree's" or critiques of some kind?

Was he critical? Yes. Are you being critical right now? Yes. Are the five posts currently above and below yours critical of him? Yes. Am I being critical right now? Also yes. This is basically the bread and butter of the internet.

Am I though?

I think you're just making shit up because you don't like me, which is fine...but there's no lie about things.

Maybe I was critical of you at one point? I don't know. But that statement is way false.

I spend the majority of my time depth charting, making up "fanasty/opinion" threads as a way to get an opinion from others over things I may thinking about (like today: http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/one-week-away-mgopredictions-time-obligatory-not-michigans-wl-record), or in open/live threads for actual sporting events.

I know this has been said a bunch of times already, but this was an impressive hill to die on.

I get what you were saying; it just feels like the least important of semantics to argue over.  Could the text have been written differently?  Sure.  Did it really offend any sensibilities?  Apparently only to a small minority.

Hey, a man is allowed to have an opinion, no matter how strange it was or how people disagree. Mr Yost deserves this weeks Thug Life award for sticking to his guns and obviously giving zero fucks. Respect.

And it's pretty much continued today. I've seen a couple of threads where it's referenced as well. normally I would think that'd be annoying (similarly to how I think people ragging on WD all the time is annoying), but given the context and the scope of a historical negging, I doubt it will end for Yost anytime soon. just hope it doesn't last into the season. hope the mods have some sort of solution thought out if this becomes a problem moving forward where you have random meta comments on threads that are definitely not meta.

umbig11 (as many posters have pointed out his legitimacy)...but what if Mr. Yost, in his comments last night, had indicated that umbig said like 5 days ago that two sources were telling him it was O'Korn.  Was the board upset that Yost was attacking a credible source?  Or they manner in which he did it?

I fully admit to abandoning my post for purposes of that thread. I was entertained and it seemed a shame to stop that before it reached its logical conclusion. Of course, it seems to have continued here, which is simply amazing to me.
