Not even sure if META is the way to categorize this, but here goes!

I probably didn't think this through - so need a little help!

Before the game against Illinois, I challenged the MGoAudience with a guess the score contest - with the winner receiving $20 towards their favorite charity.

No one guessed the score correctly, but a couple folks got close and that's good enough for me for my contest!

Closest Guess to the Final Score Tomorrow vs. Illinois, and I will make a $20 Donation to your favorite charity! (No Human Funds, please).
The problem is, I have two readers who are equally close to the actual score:

Don - 41-10: Humane Society of Huron Valley
October 21st, 2016 at 10:49 AM

ypsituckyboy - 41-6: Capuchin Soup Kitchen
October 21st, 2016 at 1:24 PM

Do I go by Price is Right! rules where closest without going over wins (ypsituckyboy)?

Or go by the closest with the earliest timestamp (Don)?

Or split it up between the two?

Or give $20 to BOTH charities (understanding that as the father of 6 kids, I am a charity unto myself haha).

Let the suggestions commence!!

yep!

Have 3 from first marriage, wife has 2 from first marriage, and we have 1 together.

Total Brady Bunch (3 boys, 3 girls).

It's at the point where we leave a pile of food in the middle of the room and have them fight it out Hunger Games style.

What you would be doing is applying tie-breakers that were not in effect before the contest took place.  Assuming the first tie-breaker is Michigan points scored, based on your selection of the two finalists, and the second tie-breaker is points off of total margin of victory, both are correct.  To pick between the two now is arbitrary and un-fair.

Fortunately, unlike 1973, you can send two teams to the Rose Bowl here and extend your charitable outreach to an additional charity by splitting the (cash) baby.  More charities = more exposure.

My solution is to have the two finalists deliver a max 500 word submission regarding their charity and let the blog populace vote on the winner.  Then, let the free market mgoblog money cannon make up the differnce, thus impacting the charitable donation total and increasing exposure for both winners/charities.

I think you could argue that the tie-breaker was in effect before the contest if you went with the earliest.  If two folks had the same score, the eariliest wins.  So isn't it a logical extension that if two folks had the same differential the earlier should win.

You actually had two 41-10 guesses on the score, because I was one of them. However, I picked that score after Don (though I was unaware of his) and so will officially withdraw mine. I will also make Don's donation to the Humane Society, if you will pick up the other.

there were actually three 41-10 scores - with Don's being first.

You are welcome to make a donation - I got a suggestion from Yakmidi where he/she would pick up the other one already...your offer is amazing and just shows the #MichiganDifference!!!
