Meta: Hello: LSAClassOf2000 (MGoPoints prize inside)

Submitted by justingoblue on

Doing my best Ace impression, I'd like to welcome the first commit for the Moderator Class of 2013, long-time user and well known board statistician, LSAClassOf2000. A prolific diarist with seemingly endless uses for tables, graphs and charts of all kinds, LSA comes highly touted by three of the four services, the lone outlier, ESPN, incorrectly projected him to defensive tackle. MGoBoard is believed to be his only offer, although uncommitable offers were reported from select scarlet and grey sites.

In all seriousness, I'm excited to work with LSA and believe MGoBoard picked up a valuable addition. With Trey Burke Trey Burke'ing Sparty last night, it's been a good couple days on the site, and this is an opportunity to share any cool stories about the game, the impending postseason, anything else sports related or just generally anything cool, fun or unique. If MGoPoints are your thing, LSA will be using his newfound functionality to adjust a user's points upward an undetermined amount for an undetermined reason, so get creative if you're interested.

rumor has it that LSA and Justin are the same person, just, you know, left side of the brain, right side thing.  watch 'em.  they're real nice, well-spoken, hardly ever a typo, but you ever notice that they don't post at the same second?  yep, proof positivie.   you heard it here first....

or maybe they're brothers.   i don' know, just watch them.  they (he'll) slip up and bingo - busted by the board.

I guess after dealing with a whole state full of assholes whining about their electricity for a day job, it should be pretty easy to deal with a site full of assholes whining about their MGoPoints.

I have just eaten a super-spicy ghost pepper in honor of your elevation to mod status.

(Technically, it was just a jalapeno, not a ghost pepper.  And to be perectly honest, another reason I ate it was to kind of give my carne asada some kick.  But it's all good).

Magnus says he'll need to work on staying low. He looks like a back-bender not a knee-bender.

Mr. Rager says Magnus is an asshole who's not qualified to make judgments on mods.

Dear lord, the bronies are taking over.  The apocalypse is nigh.  Sure, it's a really cute apocalypse, filled with sparkles and giggles and inside jokes that most three year old girls wouldn't get, but an apocalypse nonetheless.

Congrats LSAClassOf2000, and your commitment (and the lure of _possibly_ passing go and collecting 100 points in one fell post) was enough to push me over the edge to make my own commitment. After skulking all over the board since roughly the day of the Hoke hire, I've finally created an account.

Now, you may or may not wish to bestow the power of thread creation upon me at this time. However, should you do so, I can promise that my first thread will not ask if anyone has heard anything new about X recruit that hasn't been posted yet. Actually, I'll probably skulk for another year or two.

At any rate, my bona fides: I am not RDT. I confess that I did really enjoy his (?) earliest posts as RDT, and in hindsight, really wanted to believe that we had someone with Bama inside info posting for us.

I am somewhat sorry to say that I know what a number 1 bathroom is. The number 2 bathroom is the state immediately to your south. To find the commode in that bathroom, go south until you smell it and east until you step in it. You cannot miss it using arial photos!

My overwhelming early memory of Michigan football is this: "Anthony Carter in the end zone!!!!!!"; therefore, regardless of recent history, I do not consider Michigan State to be more than a pimple on the bottom of Michigan football, I mean, a rival. I now live in North Carolina (Durham) and Michigan State is our NC State. NC State has to have a rival, so they consider UNC to be it, but THE rivalry here is of course Duke versus UNC. I must confess, I am on the Duke side of that one (see below).

I am a Mott Hospital, Allen Elementary School, Tappan Junior High, Huron High School, best friend's parents were UM grads with season tickets, a motorhome for tailgating, and lots of friends, so got to go to quite a few games in my day, first drink in the Arb, won't kiss and tell, but near North Campus for some other firsts, Wolverine (who knows there ought to be a bunch of hyphens in that sentence). Degrees from EMU and Duke. EMU is 1-0 against Duke all time, btw.

I also want to say that I jumped on the Hoke-may-be-alright train upon reading Jason Whitlock's piece about Hoke, not because I knew anything about Whitlock at all, but because the fact that anyone would write that piece about him spoke volumes to me. Turns out he was right.

Also, in case there is any question, I root overwhelmingly for Michigan over Duke, of course. And if this intro post won't earn me a few points, this should: I've been to 2 Michigan-Duke games, both at Cameron. 2000 and 2002. Believe it or not, 2002 was worse because we only had something like 10 or 12 points at halftime. Ouch!

Finally, thanks to all of the denizens here for the entertainment the last couple of years, maybe I can contribute a bit myself from time-to-time now. And if there is a recruit in the triangle area who needs stalking (like a big M sign at their football game - no twitter!!!) flash me the M signal.

Congrats LSA. I don't really know how this will change the board, but I do look  forward to more of your statistical analysis in the future. It really adds something unique and sophisticated to the blog that you can't find elsewhere.

Would like to extend a congratulations to LSU, have always enjoyed your diaries.  Is there any specific duties you are undertaking? Any specific contributions you plan to do regularly?

Does this mean less charts and more moderation...I'm not sure I'm for this move...

The only way to celebrate this is of course with a chart...

I think it's clear which bin the moderators fall in.  Congrats LSA.

Having attended both games(in Breslin and Crisler) I thought I would share my experiences.

First that which I dont want to admit.  There were a lot more spartans in Crisler than wolverines in Breslin.  Can't say as I blame those of you that abstained...who really wants to spend time in Lansing if they dont have to?  And during the course of the game...Breslin was louder.  Crisler started rocking in the end, but the old argument stands...If you're only going to make noise AFTER something good has happened, you aren't likely to see a lot of good things*climbs off of soapbox*

On with the highlights: he who laughs last...

And words just cannot express everything Michigan basketball has going for it.  Just look at Crisler.  A two story waterfall,

giant touchscreens where you can play freaking kinect basketball(I kid you not),

displays for the '97 National Championship and the Heisman Trophy...You walk into Breslin, and this is what you see...

breslin1

Dingy cracked cement and cinderblock...the place looks like a fallout shelter built in the 80's.

Then we got to our actual seats...

breslin 2

Nice eh?  Do you like the silver and green pompoms? Because those are their colors...wait...aren't they gold and green? I'll get back to you on that. As for the Heisman trophy...yeah, you're never going to see that in East Lansing.  At any rate, if you're looking at basketball from an "arms race" perspective...MSU had better sink some money into their program...and soon.

Seems like a lot of good content getting lost. I find it amazing how state of the art Breslin in it's short life already looks like it's in old Crisler condition. Man, they have done the up keep on that place. (And was that the student section with benches?).

I found it funny it took me a minute to see the waterfall to the side of the pic; I was thinking...all that rain and snow, was it pouring down the escalators...?
