cool, but i'm really not a fan of kiper.

if he knew anything about evaluating talent, then he'd be making millions working for an NFL franchise.

he's been working for espn since 1984 and is worth about $7 million according to the interwebz.  directors of player personnel make at least half a million per year.

plus, go take a look at his "big boards" over the years and tell me how good he is.

I don't like Kiper, but I don't get the irrational hate. He might be their biggest attractions during the slow late winter and early spring months with his draft discussions (which probably makes the NFL very happy)...He also drives internet traffic through his mock drafts (which leads to serious advertising money), and unlike some of the personalities who works there, he does host a radioshow weekly. He not only makes the NFL happy, who also happen to be ESPNs biggest client, but also can generate revenue through several means besides TV. The dude makes bank..

And Mike Williams went in the top 10, even after sitting out for a year.

His job, frankly, is not to evaluate talent from the perspective of who will be successful at the next level; it's to evaluate where someone will be drafted, based on measurables, team need, draft position, potential trades, and whatever other tangibles/intangibles are out there.

This doesn't always align to success in the league, just as HS recruit ranking doesn't always translate to success in college.

“His attitude will be an asset in the NFL…”

-mel kiper on ryan leaf

“I’ll see you at his Hall of Fame induction.”

-mel kiper on mike williams

"Aarron Curry is the number one player on my board"

-mel kiper

"He is a franchise-caliber quarterback with accuracy and velocity reminiscent of another No. 1 overall pick, Troy Aikman"

-mel kiper on derrick carr

edit: this one i had to share

“If [Clausen is] not a successful starting quarterback in the NFL, I’m done. That’s it. I’m out.”

The guy has a dream gig. He's not held to his scouting like he would be if he worked for an NFL team and he probably makes more.

I mean, it's been proven that scouting in any sport is really a guessing game. Why not get paid for it and not have your job hinging on being right?

To be fair to the non-Michigan pundits, they gain acceptance whenever they say something kind about Michigan and then quickly drop back to their previous level of acceptance - or lower possibly - when they make their next comment perceived to be critical of Michigan. That's how it works on the flip side, if you can call it that.

teams will view jabrill as a tyrann mathieu clone.  his value will be really high, but teams rarely take DBs in the top 10.

I'd hate to lose him after just 2 full seasons, but I wouldn't fault him for jumping.

Was there ever any final word as to his "injury" his true frosh year that led to the medical redshirt? Was there a real injury, or wad that just a Hoke?
