I agree with this .

The thing you're missing is that a 4.6 at 280 lbs is killing it.
December 12th, 2018 at 12:40 PM ^
Clowney ran 4.53 at 266.
Ansah ran 4.63 at 271.
Jordan Willis ran 4.53 at 260 - he was a 3rd round pick.
I suspect Gary will put up numbers similar to Bradley Chubb, but college production and injury concerns will drop him a few more spots.
December 12th, 2018 at 12:41 PM ^
Not missing it, I just don't think he will run better than a 4.7, which is average among the top DE's the last 5 years. He will be slower than Clowney, and Garrett.
December 12th, 2018 at 11:52 AM ^
Will he be double teamed and held (without a flag being thrown) at the combine? If not, I expect he'll impress.
December 12th, 2018 at 11:01 AM ^
It may be more about the results of physicals during the combine than it is about the drills during the combine.

#2 overall is a great recruiting tool...c'mon down Harrison this could be you.
December 12th, 2018 at 11:14 AM ^
Not trying to troll you, but this is a poor argument.
What's better than #2 overall?
#1... Which happens to be from the school we're recruiting against for ZH.
December 12th, 2018 at 1:47 PM ^
It's cool. I don't have Facebook, so I didn't realize Bosa was #1 :/

Rashan might not go this high but he'll be top 10. Has the traits teams look for and better tape than salty-ass fans will give him credit for.
Also fits any defensive scheme so he's an option for all teams. Prototype at 3-tech, 4-3 SDE or 3-4 DE.

They don't even try to be correct with early mocks. Need to be able to make huge changes and create clicks when they are releasing mock 15.0

The higher Gary goes the easier it will be to recruit the next Gary. He’s always been a good guy and a good ambassador for the program. It will be fun to watch and root for his success on the next level.

If you have nothing nice to say, then dont say anything at all.

December 12th, 2018 at 11:34 AM ^
Wow that's clearly potential and not production
December 12th, 2018 at 11:47 AM ^
With a projection that high, his ass would have to be crazy to play in the bowl game (and I'm a big proponent that all players should play if they can)
December 12th, 2018 at 11:52 AM ^
1. I hope Rashan Gary has a long and productive NFL career.
2. I understand he has all the physical tools the NFL looks for in a top prospect.
3. I'm a bit wary that he will be as successful as one might expect a top-10 pick to be. For all his physical gifts, he was unable to translate that into success against far weaker competition than he is about to face. He was also coached by an NFL DC/DL coach in Greg Mattison. If Mattison was unable to coax that production out of him, I'm not sure what changes when he gets to the NFL.

In response to #3, $$$ (and not the kind that Clemson is willing to throw at kids).
December 12th, 2018 at 11:54 AM ^
Other players of note:
Nick Bosa - #1 to the Cardinals
Dwayne Haskins - #10 to the Giants
Jawaan Taylor (Florida) - #17 to the Dolphins
Devin Bush - #21 to the Ravens
Noah Fant (Iowa) - #26 to the Raiders
Michael Deiter (Wisc) - #27 to the Texans
Dre'Mont Jones - #29 to the Patriots

Rashan is a good player, but any NFL team taking him at #2 would be crazy. That would be Millenesque, if he were a WR.
December 12th, 2018 at 3:15 PM ^
Isn't Rashan a little light for an inside guy in the NFL?
December 12th, 2018 at 3:22 PM ^
10 lbs lighter than Mo Hurst is playing at, with a frame capable of putting on more weight than Hurst.
December 12th, 2018 at 3:36 PM ^
I'm a Jet fan also, and Gary's college career reminds me a lot of Leonard Williams' pro career so far. Not a lot of stats or even that many visibly noteworthy plays, but lots of talk about doing things that don't show up in the stats, facing constant double teams, freeing others up, etc.
Williams has been viewed as a disappointment to most of us, and the fact that this is already Gary's m.o. is a bit concerning for a top 5 pick. With a number 2 pick you would really want someone who dominates and blows plays up constantly in spite of the extra attention.
December 12th, 2018 at 6:48 PM ^
Also had Devin Bush at 21 to the Ravens
December 12th, 2018 at 7:06 PM ^
Gary had a pretty lackluster career at Michigan but dude is going to murder the combine. Some idiots think due to lack of production he could drop out of the 1st but theres no way his combine numbers would ever allow him to fall beyond 20
December 12th, 2018 at 8:24 PM ^
He must assume then that Gary is going to absolutely slay the combine. I haven’t seen Gary in many places other than the 7-20 range.
December 12th, 2018 at 10:51 PM ^
Shame he’s going to leave here having done nothing special. He is good, but I expected domination. Like Hand at Alabama, he never showed out like I thought.
