McShay's Mock as it Pertains to Michigan

Submitted by jokenjin on
McShay released his 7 round mock draft today (I think) and here are where he sees Michigan players getting drafted: Terrence Taylor: Round 4 Pick 7 (107 overall) - Jacksonville Jaguars Morgan Trent: Round 7 Pick 24 (233 overall) - Tampa Bay Buccaneers Will Johnson: Round 7 Pick 30 (239 overall) - Tennessee Titans I think Will Johnson going to the Titans would be great because Tennessee is known for making defensive lineman better. I believe the defensive line coach didn't follow Schwartz to Detroit (damn, I wish he did).

He had an unfortunately bad combine performance and didn't improve greatly on them in his pro day. As per the NFL Draft website, he ran a 5.16 40 and benched 225 21 times, which placed him among the worst defensive lineman there, and mgoblue.com had him running a 4.9 40 at his pro day.

Kinda surprised to see Trent that low; not because I think he's a great corner (I don't), but because all of the other draft experts seemed to be so high on him two months ago. *shrug*

Have NEVER drafted a Wolverine! As a Titan fan I hope every year they take just one and they never do. Will Johnson would be GREAT! I'd take Taylor too, with the lose of Haynesworth. And NO Jim Washburn is still in Nashville and Lions can't have him, he makes the Haynesworths (insert Taylor here) of the NFL. IMO- The Lions have a very good Head Coach in Schwartz! May the Schwartz be with you Detroit Lions.

I don't believe you. I love to see Lions' fans prepare to jump off a bridge every time a new "expert" mock comes out. These are guesses people. Every year, there are trades, last minute failed drug tests, and signability issues that pop up out of nowhere. Just relax and enjoy saturday/sunday. Millen is gone, at least wait 'til monday to register a fire Mayhew domain.

Actually, these mock drafts are pretty accurate not in specific picks, but in the areas of where people will go. Sure Taylor may not go to the Jags, but McShay feels that he is a fourth round talent, and that the Jags might be looking for a DT in that round. Look at them like a tourney bracket (albeit with over 200 games to pick), not a firm prediction of every pick.

Not a Lions fan , but who are the better QBs next year? I assume you are talking about Bradford and McCoy who both run spreads out of the shotgun. How many college spread QBs can you think of who have made it in the pros? I'll start you off with Brees and McNabb and wish you the best of luck coming up with another one.

I tracked a 7-round mock draft a few years ago on ESPN (it wasn't McShay or Kiper, but some other ESPN guy). The guy got exactly TWO picks right out of the whole draft. One of them was Vernon Davis to the 49ers but I can't remember the other correct pick.
