MBB: Player Dev Center & Crisler Timeline?

Submitted by StephenRKass on

What is the timeline for the Player Development Center? Will they be using it by September, or not until the beginning of the season? "Fall 2011" is a pretty big window of time. Is the team practicing at Concordia again this summer?

Also, what is the timeline for Crisler work? Obviously, with the guts pulled out, most of the interior seating and playing area will be done this year, and also the utility and HVAC infrastructure. Will they wait until Spring 2012 to begin work on the concourses, the entry, and the food and other amenities? Or are separate contractors beginning work concurrently with the ongoing renovations?

I did a cursory search via Google, Umhoops, Mgoblue, and here at Mgoblog, but the top and latest hits at each didn't seem to have info. I'm assuming that visible progress hasn't gone much further than the pics posted in April & May 2011.

Mgoblue.com will have a construction update on Crisler Arena next week. From what I've gathered, the two phases of construction are entirely separate. I've seen no timeline given for the second phase--the new concourse, entrances, etc.--but I doubt it will begin until after the 2011-12 season.

By the way, this week's construction update covered the scoreboards. Yost's board is supposed to be up by the end of this week, and they'll be testing it next week. The scoreboards at Michigan Stadium are scheduled for completion around the beginning of August. The Crisler board will be the last installed.
