MBB: OSU C Micah Potter to transfer
2 days before OSU opens their season going to Cincinnati, their backup Center Micah Potter has announced he's transferring. Potter is a junior who played 29 games last year averaging 4.1 PPG and 2.4 RPG. He showed a slight ability to stretch the floor as well shooting 30% from 3 on about 22% of his shots taken from deep.
The news is fairly surprising considering the timing. OSU lost a lot of production from last year's team and despite his limited playing time he was the 5th leading guy in terms of returning minutes. Potter also led the team in points in their recent exhibition win going for 13 and 6 in 10 minutes. Those 10 minutes, however, were the fewest among all scholarship players.
Now OSU is left with only three players taller than 6'6 (6'9, 6'9, 6'8), 2 of them starters and one a freshman. OSU also now has 11 scholarship players eligible to play this season.
Potter's transfer is also notable because his brother Noah is a 4 star DE commit in OSU's 2019 football class. A similar situation to this occurred back in 2014 for OSU. 5 star Texas LB Mike Mitchell transferred out of OSU in 2014 while his brother was still committed to play basketball at OSU. His brother Mickey showed up, played in the 2015-2016 season before also transferring out. The situation is a little different as the Potters are from Ohio and there were some personal circumstances for the Mitchell's, but it will be a situation to follow.
Also, in all the football hype going on right now (rightfully so) it seems that people have forgotten about basketball! Michigan opens their season at home tomorrow at 8:30 PM against Norfolk State so if you're in the area and can go please do! MSU also opens tomorrow night playing Kansas in the Champions Classic at 7 PM and it should be great watching them get run out of the gym.

I was at the game last Friday against Northwood, and was impressed at the turnout for an exhibition. Let's get a similar crowd tomorrow night! Crisler is such a good home environment when it's packed.

Yeah, I was there too and thought turnout was pretty decent for an exhibition. I'd really love to see Crisler packed this year. Basketball is just good times, people: go watch a game.

Going to the basketball game tomorrow night. First b-ball game in probably 10 years. Where are the best places to park?

No kidding, I grew up with the Potter family. They're not my favorite people, but I'm curious if I can ask around mutual friends to get a pulse on the situation.

I was there Friday rocking my Webber, Warriors #4 jersey. I was disappointed he wasn't there. The crowd was great for an exhibition. I wish this game wasn't so late, too hard to get to them living 1.5 hrs away.
