MBB to face Norfolk State, Holy Cross and George Washington in 2018-19

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

Michigan will play in the Hall of Fame Tipoff in their early season tournament.

The main tournament will be Michigan, George Washington, Providence and South Carolina, squaring off at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, CT.

However, there will be on-campus tournament games as there with other tournaments that include bodybag games.

Michigan will host Norfolk State on Monday, November 6 as well as Holy Cross on Saturday, November 10.

After a trip to play Villanova in the Gavitt Games which was announced yesterday, the tournament will resume with the actual bracket beginning.

Michigan will face George Washington in the semifinals at Mohegan Sun on Saturday November 17 and will play either South Carolina or Providence the next day on November 18.

George Washington had the #194 RPI last year, Providence #31, Carolina #89.  Would rather have drawn Carolina in the first round but GW won't be an anchor by any means, especially neutral court.  Norfolk and Holy Cross were both in the 260s; not good by any means but could be worse I guess as bodybag games go.

So will both banners be raised in the November 6 game then? They usually do it in the season opener if I recall

The likes of LeMoyne and Concordia of Ypsi have kicked off the season recently. Marketing has used the banner raising as a reason to go to these "contests" in the past. At least two have come in late October. On second thought why did I type "contests"...we play to the level  of the competiton until January it seems.

Haven't had B1G championship and final four in same year since 1966 so really no precedent on how to do this. Since in recent years they do regular season opener for banner raising how about Final Four banner for opener vs Norfolk State and B1G banner in B1G opener.  Little backwards in order of how they earned them but seems like a natural fit.  Also the B1G banner they gave out to fans last year was much smaller than previous ones.  How about athletic dept get back to larger size from 2012-2014 banners?
